AJuff
Heather looks like a mature hen, she is a good size, she has bright red cheeks and a bright red comb. She has had these bright red bits for well over a month now. She is 29 weeks old and still not laying. Not a sniff of crouching in sight. Will she ever lay? Her friend is 27 weeks and still has a tiny pale pink comb. My patience is running out.
BeckyBoo
Hi there, maybe they've come to point of lay at the wrong time of year. Ours are very hit and miss at the minute and some give up altogether during the winter. It's very frustrating tho! Hope you get an egg soon! Snowy
If Heather is one of your columbines, you may be in for a long wait! They are a legbar hybrid and seem to mature and come into lay much later than other breeds (also of araucana origin and they also take a while to lay). Having said that, my legbar hybrid suddenly sprouted an enormous comb and wattles and came into lay a couple of weeks ago. Sparkleeee has some cream legbars that I think must be over 30 weeks and still not laying. They'll get there eventually!
Ain't Nobody Here
Don't give up hope - Maisie (Columbine) laid at 28 weeks. Molly (Pied Suffolk) is now 32 weeks but has a tiny comb/wattle & no sign of crouching or eggs.

I completly agree, we bought a Jasmine (cream legbar hybrid) who is 36 weeks and still no eggs, although she did start crouching a few days ago. Good luck! xx
CatsCube
Look at us all waiting for our blue egg layers! we should start betting on whos will go first. They are ment to be very late, I think its ment to be about 32 weeks typically but again with the time of year it may be even later. Dot has reddened up in all the right places and keeps going in and out of the house, but not crouching. Not looking as red around the eye as Masie was when she started laying. I reckon it will be next year before I see any from her.
AJuff
Ahh, that explains it. Perhaps another few weeks. All I want for Christmas is a blue or green egg!!!
