Cate in NZ
I'm getting all excited...........big kid at heart me . I've managed to wangle a day off work today. Son is sitting his last mock GCSE today, so after that's done at around 11:30 he's finished for the term and daughter breaks up at 1:30. So I've just polished the furniture, dragged all my Christmas decs down from the loft (and I've now got glitter in my coffee...........adds to the festiveness ) and I'm logging off in a few mins to go Christmas tree shopping. By bedtime we'll be all decorated for Christmas Not sure what time bed-time will be tonight though...........I can see it being like Christmas Eve, still manically wrapping and decorating at midnight
The Dogmother
I still haven't found the time to wrap any of the presents work keeps getting in the way!

Cate in NZ
Done it Now all I've got to do is clear away the now empty boxes that are littering the living room. Immi pretty much did this unaided, a tiny bit of tweaking from me, but otherwise all her own work.
Mrs Frugal
Lovely trees, everyone ! I think they are all absolutely gorgeous!! Ours is hopefully going up tomorrow afternoon when the boys get home from school. LSH finishes at lunchtime tomorrow so we can start to get ready at last!! Janty
Here are some photos of our tree. Every year I buy hubby a new heart bauble. One year I managed to buy quite a lot of thick glass ones in a closing down sale. They are my favourites.

Egluntyne
Thanks ANH. The purple and silver that I normally use is sooo beautiful though. I hope they turn up. I've also mislaid 3 beautiful Swarowski Crystal tree decs too.. They sound naff but they are simply georgeous when he lights glimmer through them. Ziggy
All these trees are so lovely... it's getting me all excited about xmas... Here is a picture of our tree... I haven't put any presents underneath yet, as with four kids and five cats I don't trust them to stay wrapped till xmas unless they get put there on xmas eve... For wrapping, I have opted for cotton bags this year, got them from a company online, lovely red and green bags, with stars printed on, which I am hoping to re-use year after year... their colours look lovely. Anything that doesn't fit in the bags, I have wrapped in sugar-cane paper, had not used it before but the colours are deep and the paper has a lovely natural feel to it... I'm very glad that the kittens don't climb up our tree, but chasing them away from it is a full time job...
Egluntyne
It looks lovely. What a cosy inviting room.
Janty
Thank you for the nice comments about our tree. I love Christmas. The first weekend of December I choose the tree and get the decorations down from the loft. It's my special treat....and so that I get to do it myself, we also buy our son a tree for his room that he can decorate.
Guest
OK so I am still working - there is a class in here of year 11's at the moment but they are all busy singing, dancing and playing games (wii style on my plasma using my gyration mouse!). WE HAVE to attend a staff lunch today before we leave (even though I'm desperate to get to Brighton to see The Jam). We also HAVE to decorate our tables for some sort of competition. As my miserable new colleagues think I never join in (yeah they ask me to the pub as they are leaving - by which time I've made plans) I thought I'd show them I wasn't so I made the table decorations, here is the tree I made - it has an ICT theme.... Guest
No they are too busy peering through a window into the nextoor classroom where they are playing Twister. Oh and dancing ballet style - thats just the boys.
Jules.
Why do schools bother to open on the last day of term? The children do nowt at Alexander's school. I'm going to be in trouble from school next year as we have booked our Disneyland Paris holiday & it is in term time, just after the Y6 SATS which Alexander will be doing. The head has said that all holidays in term time will now be unauthorised...... TBH I don't care if that goes on his attendance record. I tried to get the Whit half term off from work, but two people are already off & that is all that's allowed. I'm going to get my manager to write a letter to school explaining that I did try to get the school hoildays, & I will send it in with my "holidays in term time" request form. It may have some clout. Cinnamon
Why do schools bother to open on the last day of term? The children do nowt at Alexander's school. Well if they didn't then the previous day would be the last day of term & the same thing would happen

Guest
Its worse for us as all Essex schools finished Wednesday. Our head decided kids would go away if it was a 3 day week so we would finish Friday. Lovely quick journeys to work for the last 2 days, cos it's the school holidays!
