Guest
A few years ago I made an outdoor nativity set for the lawn outside our church.. first year I made it the camel and the manger went missing just after christmas - we never found the camel, and we found the manger down by the railway tracks - having been tossed over the bridge... (had to persuade some friendly railtrack workers to recover it for me!) made a new Humphrey and repaired the battered manger... anyway - went up loft end of last week to get the figures down - and remembered that last year someone had kindly snapped off three of Humphrey the camel's legs and I had meant to fix them - but forgot all about it... cue - mad dashing rush to make new set of legs for Humphrey - then put the figures out - cue: howling gale - so had to stake and guy rope them all! Will add steel wire for security tomorrow... but - here's Humphrey back in his pomp... and the full set... one of the kings had his hand snapped off - presumably the local yobs thought he might be carrying real gold?? merry christmas one and all... Cinnamon
Very nice Phil. They have a nice minimalistic feel to them (& I don't mean the lack of legs!)

Guest
...could you do some for inside the church or is that a bit like putting a cut out of Father Christmas in there!? The children would love them though. I bet you could sell them to raise money for the roof Do churches still have dodgy roofs these days? Charlottechicken
They are beautiful Phil. I like their stark purity, I find it very Christmassy. I hope no more limbs are lost this year though
Guest
I bet you could sell them to raise money for the roof Do churches still have dodgy roofs these days? ROFL I took James to church this morning and I said to him not sure if its in Church or in the village hall. When he asked why I explained they were fixing the church roof, when he asked why to that I said because church roofs always need fixing! RevNev - is that the Church along by Roomes? Guest
LOL - reminds me how long it is since I went to Roomes, and the excellent charity shops of Upminster..... Oh and the park is lovely too - except it's opposite McDonalds which I don't mind but ITS THE WORST MCDONALDS IN THE WORLD. Hardly any staff and HUGE queues. Isn't there an Aldi there now too? I like Aldi.
bronze
oh theyre lovely. I love the simplicity of them. I feel more Christmassy putting my nativity out than I do the tree. this year I've got a lovely pottery one my parents always used to use. I felt about 5 again.
