Egluntyne
I was only thinking about this earlier. I do hope we have a better summer next year.
Olly
I've never been so conscious of the shorter days before - wouldn't have bothered me in the past, but now the morning is the only opportunity I have to check on my girls, so I can't leave the house until it's light. I keep being late for work but 'sorry, I had to check on the chickens' probably wouldn't go down too well as an excuse. Roll on Friday! (for all sorts of reasons)
Cate in NZ
I so look forward to the lighter evenings..........it'll be good to get Friday over and done with, then we can start looking forward to a little more light
ali-s
I've been looking forward to the shortest day for weeks. The short days and long cold nights up here really get me down. I am constantly tired and always in a can't be bothered mood. Can't wait for long summer days, warm sunshine and blue skies

chickencam
dragging the children and myself out of bed for the last few weeks has been hard but I keep saying it's nearly the shortest day so after Christmas every time you get up it will be a little lighter. We had summer in April this year it would be nice to have a gentle spring and a real summer next year maybe we need to all say our prayers and cross our fingers and think happy thoughts etc etc
The Dogmother
And I'll be joining you Ali - I'm a summer bird too.

When I typed that sentance I was thinking I had better emigrate to a tropical country Hah, I thought I was actually going to be doing that...............not a great plan, I'm actually enduring winter here, actually getting to sniff Spring , then I'm moving off for another winter down under . Emigrating isn't the answer, even if the winter's may be milder. I'm working on Plan B currently..........hibernation . I'm going to spend the next week eating up to half of my bodyweight in Christmas goodies, then I'm off to find a cave somewhere so that I can sleep my way through to Spring
chickencam
I would really like to do that too
Popcorn
I've lost all track of days and time recently. When is the shortest day? These dark afternoons and mornings really are grim aren't they - especially with a toddler who like to get up at 6am. Feels like I see more of the dark than the light. Got room in that cave for a couple more Kate?

Becka
I quite like the Scottish summers, especially if they're dry with a breeze to blow the midges away! Although last summer was a bit wet we did seem to spend every weekend BBQing and being eaten alive by swarms of killer midges. I spent most of my holidays as a child on an island in the Inner Hebrides so over the years I've been conditioned to expect extreme weather and dress accordingly! Nothing wrong with wearing a wetsuit to go swimming in the seajavascript:emoticon('')
missuscluck
we were talking about this today. I am already wittering on about what Im going to grow this year. I do like Christmas but as soon as its new year I cant wait to get the decorations down and start plotting my fab things Im going to grow. I need one of those thingys that makes neat little pots to grow seeds in out of newspaper instead of using peat pots. Where can I get one from????
