Joojoo
Hi Well it's 5 days into the New Year and I'm already feeling very miserable My divorce will be finalised on 30th January after 4 years. I sit here night after night on my own and would just love someone to snuggle up with. I've hardly seen Ashley all over Christmas and New Year as he is 14 and off with his mates. I would never stop him from enjoying his childhood but it just makes me feel even more lonely Work is a nightmare - new bloke started in August to ease the pressure and is a complete idiot - he can't do the job (I wonder if he faked his portfolio) and is displaying some sort of serious behaviour problem - a couple of us think he might be undiagnosed manic depressive - and is complete nightmare to work with because of it! Anyway, although I haven't really got the money to spare, and my credit card will have to take a bashing, I desperately need to get some sunshine and even if it's not for a few months it will be something to look forward to, so... has anyone got any ideas for a lovely hot and sunny destination where I can lounge around with my book and generally relax? I adore Greece but have been a few times now so would like somewhere different. The Dominican Republic is possibly on my hit list as I went with a friend when I first split up with my husband and had the most relaxing holiday I've ever had. Any ideas would be welcome Edited February 25, 2008 by Guest
Lesley
Roatan - Bay Islands, off the coast of Honduras...... I know someone who has a villa on there. You can swim with dolphins........ and just relax.
Joojoo
ooh it looks lovely . I've never heard of it before. Hmmm that's definitely one to think about. Thanks
chelsea
What about the far east? Thailand (Phuket/a beautiful place called Krabi or Phi Phi island) or Malaysia? Or the lovely Bali? or Borneo? not only are these lovely destinations - they are cheap (food etc) and the standard of the hotels in the far east is excellent. If I was going to the carribean I would pick - Grenada, Tobago or the Virgin islands. Antigua has less rain than most of the carribean islands - but its scenery is dull. You sound like you need a good holiday hun. It'll do you the world of good. I love picking holidays aswell, I love travel and destinations and I use to read holiday brochures from cover to cover (sad but true!) so I know a lot about certain hotels/destinations, working for an airline helps too!! bronze
Why don't you go down to the agents and see what cheap las minute deal you can get. that way you may see somewhere you had never even considered and it will help ease the credit side of things too. chelsea
Thanks everyone Where you stayed in Thailand looks stunning Chelse I always think that places like that would be soooooo expensive but I'll start looking now x I havent stayed there! Its on my list of "places to go in the world" I've thought of another, The Maldives - cheap, relaxing and you dont even have to wear shoes - you can sit and read ALL DAY
Joojoo
I've thought of another, The Maldives - cheap, relaxing and you dont even have to wear shoes - you can sit and read ALL DAY A friend is off there on Tuesday - now that does look absolutely beautiful. Is it that cheap though? I know I can stay in the Dominican for about £1700 for both Ashley and myself including flights and 4* All Inclusive. I'll have to get hunting. chelsea
Do you want somewhere where you and Ashley can do sightseeing/a day trip? Maldives are great for doing nothing, absolutely nothing - and you are restricted to one bar, one restaurant and the same people if you stay on a small island - yes you will get it cheap if you hunt around though! Joojoo
It would be nice to go out for a day or two on sightseeing trips but it doesn't really matter that much. Ashley would be happy just snorkelling all day every day and I know the Maldives is fantastic for that

Emma.x Thanks for the offer It would have to be later in the year though as I don't really want to take Ashley out of school for too long as he has his year 9 sats in May. I think the Maldives may well be out of my price range but I'll have a look at My Travel though. At least I've got some more ideas now. Have a fab time in Thailand - it looks stunning You lucky devil
Goosey Lucy
I'd recommend Malta. Fabulous climate, lovely people and the best snorkelling/scuba diving in Europe. We went in the summer and had a great time, also went many years ago without the kids. Doesn't take long to get there either. Enjoy yourselves wherever you go. Ain't Nobody Here
I sit here night after night on my own and would just love someone to snuggle up with. Can't help with the sunny destinations I'm afraid but if you look anything like your avatar it won't be long before you find "someone to snuggle up with" . Perhaps on a sunny beach somewhere . Rona
Been to Malta a couple of times and would recommend it as well. Second time we went was for my 50th birthday and we stayed here. http://www.hotelfortina.com/page.asp?p=9171&l=1 It wasn't quite as posh as it is now but still very lovely and luxurious. Plenty opportunities for lazying about and being pampered and also for going out on day trips. Maltese bus system is great if you like to do it alone. Am going to Sri Lanka soon (7 weeks and 5 days) don't know what's it's like but I will let you know when I get back.
