Couperman
This is the only forum I have posted on regularly. Yes, there have been heated discussions and on here and I have participated in such discussions but I don't recall anyone ever being offensive or damn right rude or personal (OK I can actually, but not a 'regular' event) but in general people who feel strongly about things still accept the opinions of others without slagging anyone off. This forum has a family feel to it and I commend all the mods for keeping it that way. I dare say that the current campaign in favour of chicken welfare has ruffled a few feathers (no pun intendended) stirred some strong feelings and people are maybe shooting from the hip on other forums, particularly those forums directly invovled with the campaign. So it has had the desired effect, i.e. people discussing chicken welfare. On a lighter note, I re-visited the BHWT site today, it has a nice new look to it! It is just a shame there seems to be no rescues close enough to us. Kev.
buffie
Glad you like it Kev, I did post about it but the threads move so quickly. This is also my first forum and I love it. I asked so many questions when I first joined and everyone was so helpful. Ditto to making good friends Andrew and I do pop to other forums but only one's that have anything to do with chickens Jamie's is the latest and I will pop onto RC but not to post I don't think. Popcorn
+ 1 to agree with a load of smilies This was my first forum, and will probably be my only one too. I have given others a go, but I have never found it as comfortable as this one. I have been on and off (more off) for the past few months and haven't been posting as regularly as i once did for various reasons, but you can guarantee a warm welcome whenever you post on here. I'm only here this morning as I have the morning off work for my 21 week scan. Nice to have some leisure time alone!! There will always be someone who you don't agree with, or can't get on with, but here it's like the unsaid rule, that you are polite and respectful of all - and maybe just avoid talking to the people you don't gel with rather than cause unnecessary friction and upset. What a lovely forum, and what lovely members. I have felt it not being able to get on as much, (or go to any 'meets') but you lot always have kind words and make me feel right back at home again. Hurray for Omlet Edit - It's been so long, my hen still has her santa hat on! Must take it off.
menagerie
yep I agree - rc is scary. Practial poultry is also scary, but good if you need quick and knowledgeable replies about a sick chicken. I use the ones on www.allotment.org.uk - they're friendly and have a poultry section. what's imebg?

Egluntyne
talking about black, one of my friends has just found out she is pregnant, she is pagan (witch type) and when I suggested knitting her booties or a hat she wanted either black or dark purple (and I think she was serious ) as long asa she is happy cathy x I once years ago got stuck in a lift with my baby ( the one who now has winter vomiting!) and another mother, whose baby had a deep purple shawl. She was a bit gothy looking. Anyroad up....as we were stuck for 3/4 of an hour, we fell into conversation. When I asked her what her baby was called, I was very amused to be informed that he was called Merlin. His hair was the colour of a carrot. Couperwife
that child would have a life time of trauma - some parents just dont think of the possibilities do they these comedy names are actually being used. Helen Highwater? Mandy Lifeboats? there was a child round here whos parents, Mr & Mrs Peacock named Drew eeek even when on the front page of the local paper, they refused to change it. oh, well cathy x
