craftyhunnypie
What is the best thing I can feed Audrey (my gingernut) at the moment? She is having a moult. I've fed her some dried meal worms today as well as her eating her layers pellets as normal. She has also had some sweetcorn before bedtime. She's looking a bit patchy & I want to help her through her moult. I know tuna is good, but how much & how often? Any other foods good? Ain't Nobody Here
Cat food's good, I believe . Can't remember quantity or how often for tuna - try a search on "moulting"?
Egluntyne
I've given mine organic cat food up until now. However.....after the Hugh and Jamie programmes I am not convinced that the meat in them is not from spent battery hens, so from now on I shall use chick crumbs, which they love and which is high protein. Claret recommends them.
craftyhunnypie
Oooo thanks, I hadn't thought of chick crumbs. I bet they will love them! Emma.x
Tweety
I am giving mine, one of whom is moulting, chick crumbs on the advice of omleteers on here. They all love them!
theherd123
You could also scrable some eggs up for her and add some poultry spice too and white maggots are good aswell
puffball
The only trouble is, how are you going to make sure it's her that gets it? Amelia stuck her beak up at it during her moult but Lucy and Ebony were straight onto it...*sighs* chickens eh...?!
Chicken Licken
I give mine tuna - which they love. Make sure it is well rinsed first though.
Olly
I've given mine organic cat food up until now. However.....after the Hugh and Jamie programmes I am not convinced that the meat in them is not from spent battery hens, so from now on I shall use chick crumbs, which they love and which is high protein. Claret recommends them. I think (following the cat-food thread on Nesting Box!) that the conclusion was that organic cat-food was not from battery or intensive source. However I still don't feel entirely comfortable about it. What sort of chick crumbs do you use - only last time I looked, the protein content (I'm going by the description on A & P Organic feeds) was 18%, as opposed to 16% on layers mash/pellets. Is 2% enough to make a difference, or are you using a different source?
