The Darkness to Trainspotting in 10 easy steps

Recommended Posts

Does any body else think that the lyrics to the new song by the Darkness, named Bald, are highly entertaining.

You can find the tune here (sorry if its a bit quiet):

http://freespace.virgin.net/smith.penrith/bald.htm (sorry, im also a bit flash mad at the moment  )

For those of you unfamiliar with the Darkness.... here is a taster of the lyrics:

It would appear that male pattern

baldness has set in

his hair, at an alarming pace

running away from his face

he's losing his virility

and now his masculinity

has been compromised

and his libido down-sized

Not for me, not for me, not for me, uh-uh

not for me, not for me, heaven forbid

it's not for me you understand

Bald, slap headed and hairless

bald he is destined to be

bald, well tonight thank God it's him instead of me.

From what I have been reading

his scalp needs kneading

to stimulate each follicle

and reverse this diabolical

condition that's afflicted he

for years and has cruelly

repulsed each potential mate

and left him with a balding pate

Not for me, not for me, not for me, uh-uh

not for me, not for me, heaven forbid

it's not for me you understand

Bald, slap headed and hairless

bald he is destined to be

bald, well tonight thank God it's him instead of me.

Sock it to me baby, yeah!

Not for me, not for me, not for me, uh-uh

not for me, not for me, heaven forbid

it's not for me you understand

Not for me, not for me, not for me, uh-uh

not for me, not for me, heaven forbid

it's not for me you understand

Bald, slap headed and hairless

bald he is destined to be

bald, well tonight thank God it's him instead of me.

Thank God!

Bald, slap headed and hairless

bald he is destined to be

bald, well tonight thank God it's him instead of me.

How?

I really can't believe they have dared put words like that to a piece of music. Personally, no, I don't find it entertaining. Although I do understand that some people would....

Who are they going to go for next - "fatties"?

I didn't realise we had crossed swords Dan? :?

Did I say I was offended? I believe I said that I didn't find it entertaining.

Perhaps there would also be a lot less trouble if people read the posts properly before following up.:wink:

Well I am sorry that I didn't answer myles (Anne's) post quickly enough for you Dan - in future I will try to reply in a more timely fashion. :?

Anne - for the record, I am not offended.

Well, I emailed the lyrics to Phil, who is 'proud to be bald' and he was fine about it. I think The Darkness are daft anyway, but (like grd) I don't find them offensive, just pointless.

I work with loads of blokes, so there's plenty to get offended at here. I just tend to let most of it wash straight over me and not give them the satisfaction of making me rise. But sometimes I feel that I have to stand up (to my full 5'1"!) and take them to account or correct their 'isms. If they are being plain stupid, then I tell them so.

I wasn't at all offended Myles, so don't worry. Your mum is lovely, she'll see the funny side of it. Perhaps you ought to have your own Omlet forum account to avoid the confusion.

PS

I am a trainspotter - I don't record numbers anymore but I have just been down to Rugby station for my lunch break to photograph a few trains. If I were to have taken offence every time someone said something derogatory about trainspotters (and especially fat trainspotters) then I don't think I would ever get out of bed in the morning...

Dan, you obviously feel this is a safe environment to come out in.

Do you have any particular favourites types of locos or carriages? I have had some involvement with a train company and know a few charter operators. Have been to Oxley a number of times - see quite a variety there.
