theherd123
Im going to be there on Sunday too! Terrier & Hound Day - the best in MHO (I own EBTs so i would say that!) Visit the crufts website for whats on on the day you will be going as it will give a run down on what is on in the arenas. Its a doggy paradise for shopping and the prices are very good too

pickled egg
Hello, yes, we'll be going on Sunday too. I love Crufts but it will be very busy so brace yourself. And take a packed lunch. And plenty of spends. And someone else to carry everything that you buy! I love the terrier and hound day best too. Whippets and greyhounds fondling for me.... Ooh...you'll have to tell us if he is going to be on. They've never shown the Bull dogs on TV. They're supposed to be our national dog aren't they? but they're never shown. He usually comes away with at least one prize but moans that the judges are usually quite partial towards certain breeders.

Shirl
I'm going on Thursday to see the Toy dogs or more specifically Chinese Cresteds. Until I got pregnant with DD2 I was showing mine. I have exhibited and won classes at Crufts. It will be the first year that I have gone without dogs but it will give me an opportunity to have a good look around. I totally agree with taking food. The food is both expensive and poor quality.
bronze
Am I the only one who doesnt like crufts. Its very elitist and makes me think of isms in the dog world. I much prefer the idea of scrufts.
Shirl
It's like any competition. They are looking for the best bred and presented dog on the day. Yes it costs a lot of money to breed, keep and show dogs but most forms of competition at the highest level aren't cheap.
bronze
I wasnt meaning elitist amongst the owners more between the dogs. I don't l;ike miss world or anything liek that either. Fine win a competiton because of hard work or teraining but not because you were born with out a skin tag on your bum.
Shirl
To be honest I object to bonniest baby competitions after all don't all parents think their baby is the cutest? At least with the dogs they are judged to a standard (well at least they are supposed to be ). There are plenty of dogs that are beautiful but for whatever reason aren't close to the breed standard. Tessa the Duchess
Am I the only one who doesnt like crufts. Its very elitist and makes me think of isms in the dog world. I much prefer the idea of scrufts. You are not alone Bron I really don't like big dog shows. I find it upsetting to see the dogs brushed and shampood within an inch of their little lives having to behave in a very undoggie way I think dogs should either be sleeping or rushing around sniffing other dog's bums and getting all muddy There is a film called 'Best In Show' directed by Christopher Guest, which is a hilarious look at behind the scenes in a spoof 'Crufts' type show Tessa
