Hellcat
before going out for work Christmas Dinner tonight. Its March Sheila!
Sheilaz
Saved on crackers, it was for last Christmas! A good evening though, 16 of us in an Italian restaurant. Rinsed hair & used vinegar for 1st time. Hair def. very short of looking stunning, or even just washed (which would be nice). But, no time for oatmeal remedy. Will do that in morning though, then go out with glorious hair, bathed in fine white dust. So, very mediocre hair, but hanging on optimistically. Linda
I love Italian food! Hope you had a good feast and sampled a good wine or two. Hang on in there with the hair - you're being inspirational!!
Sheilaz
Well thanks, Linda, but you might not say that if you saw my hair! Also, it was quite amusing when I showered. Charlot had left lots of interesting bottles in the cubicle which I noticed too late. So, I just kept thinking about my lovely plastic jug in the corner, with vinegar & warm water, ooooh, lovely vinegar, I'm reallly looking forward to it, oooh, lovely jug, who wants all those horrid bottles...ooooh, think I'll leave the lovely vinegar on for a few mins...la, la, la, la, la! (Oh yes, lovely meal thanks. I did partake of a glass or 2.)
Guest
Well, my hair is definitely dirty today. I'm going to follow Linda's example and oatmeal my hair in the garden! Such a good idea! Sheila - do you think the new bottles were Charlot's comments on your hair? Just when you thought she hadn't noticed! I have given the rest of my shampoo (1 whole bottle) and conditioner (2 bottles!) to my teenage daughters. There is none left in my bathroom! I rinsed my son's hair in water last night and it has come up really well. That's 4 out of the 6 of us in now! Day 16! I'm impressed with myself that I've come this far. Definitely not giving up now

Guest
Definitely DOING it, Buffie, not done yet! Sheila, Linda, Anne (Myles), Anne's husband, Louise, Clare T's daughter and maybe Clare, me, my husband and daughter and son. Have I missed anyone out? Guest
Hair fully oatmealed now! I'm hoping that all the bits will have fallen out before I go out this evening! I look as if I have a bad case of dandruff in spite of lots of brushing. But my hair feels and looks clean again.
Sheilaz
Sheila - do you think the new bottles were Charlot's comments on your hair? Just when you thought she hadn't noticed! You must know her, Ginette! No, she came home for 2 nights for Mothering Sunday, (ahhhh!) & used the shower room. Or, she came home to borrow the car to take back with her! OK, 1st vinegar rinse has def. taken out some grease, but also left some parts quite flyaway. Still, I think now I know I can rinse without it being worse afterwards, it is an improvement. I think I need a bit of practice at getting a routine going, then I'll be OK. I'm finding it hard to strike a balance. Getting the oil to settle down naturally can result in too much at the moment. But, if I remove too much, that's not great either, I've rediscovered some of the old dry bits! So, I'm looking towards the longterm goal, rather than really enjoying it now. But perhaps I will after another oatmeal experiment later! As well as sounding obsessed about it on this forum I find I keep looking at other people's hair. Do you know, very few actually look good enough to think "yes, that's lovely". Even TV presenters, I thought one girl on Blue Peter was having a really bad hair day, I wouldn't have set foot outside it looked so dreadful, but I suppose it was deliberate Which means mine must be OK. The Dogmother
Sheila, are the ends of your hair dry? If so, there's a trick I used when I had very long hair - wind it up and tuck the dry ends in next to the scalp, that way they get a good dose of scalp oil and are protected at the same time. Guest
It's funny being obsessed about the state of our hair. I suppose we're no different from 'ordinary' people, but it is funny! I'm glad I've got everyone here to chat to and share details with. I think my OH wishes I'd change the subject sometimes. Sheila - I think my routine is going to be Vinegar rinses on Mondays and Fridays with oatmeal on Wednesday. The oatmeal is always there if I need it at the weekend. I am worried too about stripping too much oil out too frequently. Just water didn't seem to work for me - made my hair worse if anything! This has got to be better than shampoo though and we also have to have 'all-right hair' while we're doing it. I suppose if my hair doesn't need a vinegar rinse, then I won't do one. I am so enjoying the post-oatmeal experience though My hair feels so soft, almost baby-soft, and I think it looks better than it ever did. I am so pleased with it that I have bravely taken a photograph! I may post it too when I can work out how!
Sheilaz
Oh, you're great you two! Clare, that is such a brilliant tip, so obvious & yet I've never done it, although I do try to brush it through. Not so much dry ends, as dry half the whole length! So, every night, I shall tuck up the ends & attach to the scalp! Come to think of it, Grandmothers used to wear long hair plaited across the scalp at night...makes sense. I'm grateful for that, Clare, something else to try! Ginette, I'm coming to the same conclusion, 2 rinses per week, with vinegar whilst needed, alternated with one or 2 oatmeals, as needed. Great, we have a plan! Feel happier now, so thanks for that. Photos? Yes, yes, yes, please! PS.Hey, Buffie, thanks for support. Are you going to join us? Sheilaz
Well, it took me several weeks to attempt the camera/PC lesson with OH. It was easier than I thought, and we both survived the tutorial, without a tantrum!
Guest
Well here goes! Hopefully a picture will appear here! I think the white effect has been exaggerated by the flash on the camera, but is probably evidence of the oatmeal from this morning!
myles
Ginette.. Your hair looks wonderful, very clean and all glossy . "Ooops, word censored!"ody would guess your secret and there aren't any white bits . It really looks lovely

Linda
Well, at least then they don't have our faces to contend with!! (I can only speak for myself of course, but it can be better that way (back view)) Ginette, your hair's looking great - lovely colour and nice and shiny. Linda
I saw a friend tonight who said my hair looked nice Before anyone asks, this friend has perfect vision and does not need Specsavers!! Well, that's what I'm telling myself.
Sheilaz
That's great Linda. I'm dreading someone saying "Have you done something different to your hair?" which isn't the same as a compliment, but more likely.
Guest
Thanks for the comments everyone. I feel so good about my hair after the oatmeal! Sheila, I am worried that you are not experiencing any of this pleasure. Are you tempted to stop? Do you not have success with the oatmeal? I don't think there is any need to be stoical about this. Oatmeal isn't a chemical and it isn't absorbed by the hair ( ) so it must only be soaking up EXCESS oil. I'm sure it won't prolong this initial stage too much. Use it and start enjoying your hair! I've got people at home telling me my hair looks all right. Maybe you should confide in someone who could do the same for you? That might be reassuring.
