Right Girls - Hair washing and not doing it with shampoo

Recommended Posts

It looks OK and feels soft. But my scalp feels really itchy, so I wonder if the egg refreshed the hair, but not the scalp? I'll probably do oatmeal tomorrow.

:D Well, there's hope. There is very little excess oil several days after rinses, just very soft hair. I'm using oatmeal to make it look washed and give more life, in between rinses.

Just did a bicarb rinse, I think I'll do one fornightly. Looks & feels terrific. I'm so pleased as I even took a risk & did it before going out this evening. Phew!

Ginette, perhaps vinegar rinse to help the scalp? I never have itching except once, slight rash type after one overdone bicarb.

Sheila...firstly 2.02 am :!: i had to get up the other morning to sort out something, had a quick look on the forum and Gina was also on at 2.00 :!:

Anyway i'm so glad your hairs going so well :) . What colour is your hair :?: is it a very light colour, because mine looks so grey after oatmeal. I know i,m going grey but honestly not that grey.

Are any of you girls going to Burghley, in a couple of weeks :?:

Mousy brown, but with added white tinge after oatmeal! I think yours is much fairer than mine, but the last brushout worked really well...except forgot & had flecks all over dark clothes again! Nightie next time!

My hair was really dirty yesterday. I don't think the egg on Monday had much effect at all. Today I have done a vinegar rinse, only a bit differently. I decided not to dilute it at all, so poured 200ml of apple cider vinegar over my hair, combed it through and left it while I showered. Then I rinsed it in warm water. As always, I will have to report back when it is dry. It is drying quite quickly though. I think that's the neat vinegar effect!

Ginette you'll melt your hair away at that rate  But on the bright side no hair to feel greasy

My hair's still ok, after the weekend egging. I think i'll rinse it tomorrow with vinegar. It's never easy knowing which method to use.

Do you know you can use mayonaise as a conditioner. I might give that a go :!:

I got some Simply Delicious Organic light mayonnaise. I was really pleased and made some coleslaw. But it was horrible! It's probably just me, but it tasted like egg mayonnaise and I couldn't eat it! :( Disappointed! Perhaps I should try it on my hair then? :?

Well, my hair is dry now and on the whole I am really pleased with it. :) It does look a little dull on top but I don't think anyone would notice. It looks newly washed and feels soft. :) I'm going to wear it down because it feels good and I'm proud of it! :D

Your not getting a photo off me. My hair is horrendous today. It's gone all greasy and stuck together on one side at the back. Very odd as the rest is fine. I might try some vinegar later on as I don't really want to go to work like this tomorrow!!!!

:D Gina, have you thought of using water only for baby's hair? If I were having a baby now, I would try & do no shampoo, and just rinse in water.

...now I'm dreaming about babies!....

Ginette, that was brave about the vinegar! I don't think I dare try neat in case it overdries it the length, which I'm finding happens a bit. But I'm glad it has made yours good!

I'm sporting the natural look today...it's the dragged through the hedge backwards! I'm pleased with the last bicarb, but this is 2 days later & it's windy, and the length is a bit too dry, and sticking out in all directions. Perhaps I should lead a rock band? 8)

But, I'm quite happy with it...it's not at all greasy! :D

I have a dilemma. I have been taking the opportunity of stuck down hair to grow out my fringe. Now it's drier, it's at that horrid falling in face & just past eyes length. I always change my mind at this stage. Oh dear, to cut or not. Plus, I'd need a "not wash" cut at hairdressers

Can't decide.

Oh, one more thing, a warning...never ever use the bicarb less diluted, unless you want straw! Although I love the bicarb, I've just wondered if it caused my sore eyes on Tuesday, I'd better watch that one.

PS, have you tried bicarb Aylana?

:lol::lol: sounds divine Sheila - that made me laugh!

You've come this far...stick it out and grow out your fringe. You've got lots of will power at the moment so go with the flow! Shame I couldn't see a picture though of the 'through hedge backwards' look!:lol:

I will go with the water option for baby too.

I've been growing half of my fringe out since last July. First I had it clipped back on top, then I graduated to two clips on both sides. Now the hair is even longer I find I'm down to one clip on both sides.! Go for it Sheila!

Aylana, you might need a dose of oatmeal to relieve the grease or if it is really bad, try bicarb!

I'm off to look at the photos I had taken earlier before I went out!

OK . . .err . . .here are two pictures of me. It's late and I must be feeling unusually brave! Fortunately ( :?: ) I feel that the back looks better than the camera tells me it does!

Well done Anne! Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous! What does Alyssa think about her parents doing this? My teenage daughters are intrigued I think and watching with interest but definitely not going to give up the daily hair washing! I think they will be tempted when we no longer have to do anything to it and it still looks stunning! :D

After yesterday, my hair has greased up a bit today. I am out singing tomorrow so I think I may do an oatmeal before I go! After your comments about applying neat acid to my hair, I realised I should have finished with an egg application to neutralise it a bit and also to condition it. Next time I think I will use 200ml vinegar mixed with 200ml water, which will still be quite strong, but better than the neat vinegar. My scalp is itchy again today :( It must be a reaction I think, but I hope it goes soon!

8) You all look terriffic, wow-eee indeed!

:? I think I must be doing something wrong. What wonderful hair!

Anne, what is your routine now at this more settled stage for you? I'm interested in what you are using, how often, if at all now.

Not that I ever think mine will look like that!

Yours too, Ginette, it looks in lovely condition, I won't be posting a photo for a while!

PS. Lovely to see daughter & chooks too Anne.
