loubrookes
I am seeking advice.....we've moved our eglu from the lawn to reclaim it for the summer! Fliss and Kendy will soon be having the run of a large flowerbed but I am now worried about them not having any grass... do they need grass?! Egluntyne
No...not really. You can give them greens in other ways if you wish....broccoli, spinach, cabbage, lettuce, Kale, they love them, and they keep them amused.
Christian
Hello Lou Try growing some perpetual spinach in a small area of your garden. I have a small amount that I pick 3-4 times a week and it keeps on cropping. I tie it up and they strip it bare in seconds! http://www.organiccatalog.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=28 It has lasted all through summer and winter. Laura & CTB
I dont have any grass in my garden at all so the chooks get all their greens bought in. When they're available I also buy them a turf or two - gets destroyed in a couple of days though
AJuff
1st March and I've planted lots of lettuce, rocket, corgettes, peas, broad beans, parsley and coriander in my propagator today. I've planted double the amount this year now we have the hens. They love their greens!
Eyren
Mine have grass when the weather's nice enough, but otherwise I give them leftover salad or anything spare from the organic veg box: cabbage, corn-on-the-cob, etc. (Not that we usually have any left, but sometimes I'm disorganised and don't get around to cooking stuff until it's a bit too late )
