bokbok
For a job. Has anyone got ideas on where to go to look for jobs - I'd love to work with animals , plants , or both , but I have no idea how to go about it. The job centre doesn't have anything , yet I live near farms and a forest.
theherd123
Have your tried monster.co.uk? Also it may be worth your while to get the yellow pages and check out the farms & animal centres in your area - you could call them to see if they have any vacancies. Good luck! chelsea
A lot of places like the blue cross and other centres have their own websites now - if you go on them they may list vacancies on there also if you have any boarding kennels/catteries locally why not ring/e mail them also I would also love to work with animals but because im SO sentimental I could not work in a rescue centre - we would end up with all the pets being brought home! good luck
Snowy
If you are still trying to decide what type of jobs are available, you could do no worse than ring and arrange to visit a company, find out what type of jobs they employ into and what sort of qualifications/experience they look for. Speak to someone in the personnel department, if there is one. And it will look better for you if they have jobs come up in the future, they will be more likely to remember you. Louise
Animal work is very competetive and very poorly paid often centres have alot of voluntary staff as part of some qualifications including veterinary surgeons and nurses means you have to get work experience in the animal care profession which leaves few paid positions Try thinking of places you know you might want to work and look up the individual websites and see what they have Also send in you CV as if they don't have anything they may consider you in the future as it might save on the advertising budget if you are already interested Places to consider include kennels, catteries, zoos, farms, pet stores, stables, vets (they sometimes have kennel maid positions especially large practices as it is cheaper and frees the nurses up for other tasks), there are a couple of others I could suggest if you want PM me your location and I will send you some more suggestions
