Guest
It's been a bit rainy today, usually a reason for a mild grump during the holidays, but today I FINALLY got the 'all-clear' from the breast clinic at the hospital, and have been sent away never to be seen again (hopefully!). It's been 4 months since I found the lump, and despite assurances at the first appointment that it was just a mild infection, it never cleared up, got bigger and starting causing a lot pf pain, despite being drained and various courses of antibiotics (some of which brought me out in some rather delicious rashes ). Samples were sent away and visits to the hospital have been frequent, as they tried to work out what it was and how to get rid of it. They never worked out what it was, but it's gone now and the hospital are happy that it has gone for good, so despite the rainy day, I've been able to sit back and count my blessings. Sometimes it's hard to remember the good things, especially when things are going against you, so I think we all should take a minute to be thankful for the little things in life that make us smile. For me, I have beautiful children, all of whom are doing well at school and nursery (even Owen with the odds stacked against him always has a smile on his face and a good report at the end of term), I have been lucky enough to be able to give up a job that made me unhappy and stressed, I am studying for a new career that I've always wanted to have, I have window sills groaning with seed trays, all bursting with cucumbers and corn and peppers and tomatoes and even the starwberry seeds have started to grow - how tasty an autumn are we going to have?! My chickens are happily scratching in the garden, all laying 13 days out of 14 - we have an abundance of eggs that we are able to share around with friends and family. And finally, I have the forum - it has kept me smiling over the last few months, laughing out loud quite a few times - what a wonderful bunch of people you all are! Even if you did all laugh when I told about my secret David Seaman fancy........
Linda
That's good news Shona - it must be such a relief. Sometimes things do happen to make us reflect on the blessings we have in our lives. We can all forget to appreciate the most imortant things at times - the love in our families and the beauty of nature around us. I'm determined to make the most of it. Crooked Chicken
What a lovely post Shona. Great news. I am very fortunate as my life is very sunny at the moment (husband, home, children, health, chickens, extended family etc etc). I still however count my blessings every day. When sometimes things don't seem to be going right in my life, there is one person whom I ALWAYS think of. It is a lady who I knew in my teenage years. She had a husband and three children. Over the years that I knew her, she lost a son in a car accident, a daughter to ill health, and a husband also of ill health. Her other son is now grown up and living away. This lady would never realise how much I think about her, but knowing what she has gone through, and coped with, makes me so very thankful and grateful of everything in my life. Good on you Shona, and if you were here next to me, I'd give you a great big hug. XX
