Flo
Hi Does anyone know what a really pale egg could be a symptom of? Mabel laid one yesterday (I've taken a pic which I will post tonight) and it is very much paler than the ones she has been laying up to now. She has been a bit off colour, I've posted about her sore patch on her tummy, and I am going to worm her as soon as the flubenvent arrives. Just wondering if anyone knows this as a common symptom of something? Thanks Flo
Ain't Nobody Here
I take it you mean the yolk rather than the shell ? I think the yellower the yolk, the more greenery they've been eating so that could be a reason .
Snowy
I'm sure I read somewhere that it could be due to worms, but I can't find the reference now Hopefully the flubenvet will help!
Flo
No it is the shell that is really pale, I can't work out how to post a picture! They are usually a mid to dark brown colour but this one is almost white! Flubenvent arrived this morning so I'll see what that does. She didn't lay yesterday so I don't know if it is a one off or not?? Thanks

Mel (& Paul)
Very interesting! Our four brown egg layers (those with the Celtic names) suddenly started laying much paler shelled eggs - and it was just after we introduced the four new girls (those with the names of the fairies from A Midsummers Night Dream) - and now we have had them for just over a week the brown eggs are going back to their normal shade. Flo
Thank you for the article, very interesting. I think it could be a number of things, so I have started the flubenvent and given the run a really good clean and dust with powder incase of any mites. Mabel seems perfectly fine in herself so I will keep an eye on it and see what the flubenvent does thanks
Flo
Thanks I have completed a 7 day course of flubenvent and Mabel is much perkier. She has laid 4 eggs in the last 5 days and all have been a lovely brown colour. They are also come of the heaviest eggs she has laid so something is working Thanks again Flo
