Nicola O
Just had a phone call from my uncle to tell me that my Great Aunt Edna has just passed away. She was in her early nineties but was still the most vibrant person. She used to live in a farmhouse in the country and kept loads of chickens and a couple of pigs. We used to go and spend every easter school holiday with her from when I was a baby until I was 13 (that was about 25 years ago), then Great Uncle Stan died and the farmhouse and animals got too much for her and she moved. Those holidays with her were the happiest I have ever had, and I believe she was the one who instilled this lifelong love of chickens in me. I named my first three omlet chooks after her and her two sisters. So, bye to a great great aunt, we'll all miss you. Nicola

Guest
so sorry to hear about your great aunt. I hope while she was here she knew that she'd instilled you with her passion for chickens. Did she know you'd named a chicken after her? I bet she was tickled pink. You have lots of happy memories of her I'm sure which will be a great comfort. Hope she didn't suffer. xxx

Nicola O
I hope while she was here she knew that she'd instilled you with her passion for chickens. Did she know you'd named a chicken after her? I bet she was tickled pink. Oh yes, she knew. Mum & Dad have visited her a few times over the last few years - I've not been able to because of my work - and they kept telling her all about my chooks, and she was delighted to have one named after her. Many thanks for all your kind words. Nicola.

chickencam
Sorry to hear of your loss She sounds like she was quite some lady a bit like my OH's Nan she died a couple of years ago now in her early 90's and she never lost her, formidable spirit or her independence or a sharp mind for chess, no one could beat her.
