She started the Buffie thing, anyway I got the chance to use it here so it's nice to still hear 'hello Buff', makes me feel young and glam. Amazing the power of words eh BBx

Karen & co.
Just sat and watched the video the children came in one by one and I wasn't sure about them seeing but they were more angry about the treatment than upset, although non of us got away with dry eyes. garyhere
Hi Haven't posted for a while. My girls are doing fine. Very spoilt! Today tho we took in 6 recued battery hens. They are a bit nervous and very smelly, but they seem to be settling in. Pecking at the grass, something i guess they haven't done before. I was a bit worried they wouldn't go into the hen house at dusk, but they all did bar one who needed a helping hand. I shall try and post some pics if I can. Will keep you updated. Wish me luck! Martin B
What a great person you are taking in those hens. Congratulations! Pictures please! I would like to see them now and when they have recovered! Well Done ---Martin---
Chicken on a mission
My girls weren't ex battery hens but they weren't used to being on grass. Consequently they over-dosed and you should of seen they state of the first poos we got from them ...still, you have all that to come
Martin B
In help to trying to raise money I'm giving anyone in my family a Free-Range egg if they donate over 50p! Not from my own hens as I don't have any!
Sheilaz
Gary, that's great news, good for you. We'll all be interested to hear more about their progress & see pictures. Good to hear from you, and glad the original pair are well too.

Sheilaz
Me too, Martin, when I'm older. Meanwhile, the important thing is spreading the word about free range eggs v. batteries, which I know you do.
Martin B
Yup, I got my grandad to buy Free-Range eggs for the first time ever on thursday!
Linda
That's good Martin. The more people we convert, the fewer hens there will be in appalling conditions.

Karen & co.
My boys are desperate to adopt some too, they even cleaned out the old wendy house anouncing that their sisters were too old now (11 & 7!) to bother with it, and all they would need would be some perches and nest boxes! Need to work on OH first though Karen x
garyhere
Day 2 In the Big Chicken House!!! lol Today the girls seemed more settled. Eating like there is no tomorrow ( i am currently putting the organic pellets i use for my omlet hens and whizzing them in the food procesor so that they become a powder) I may be imagining it but their combs, which were pale and limp are now, still limp, but have a little bit of colour in them now. And of the 6 hens we rescude... 5 layed this morning!!! The shells are so thin and take no effort at all to break on the side of a bowl, where as my original girls have egg shells like lead!! lol we can't bring ourselves to eat these particular eggs yet so this evening Sophie and Dylan ( our 2 dogs) had scrambled egg for their tea! After a week or so i think i will be able to eat their eggs without imagining what is in them!!! So, so far so good. I have put some pics in the Gallery, unfortunatly i didn't name it when i created it and now i can't rename it for some reason. Anyway, the main pic is of a dark brown/black hen.... you'll find the recue girls inside!
Mel (& Paul)
Brilliant news Garyhere! Kate will probably sort out your album problem, but keep us updated!!
