Anyone had their retro fit to stop cube leaking yet?

Recommended Posts

i have had an email back from omlet saying they will be posted out to everyone this week. Not sure if this is going to be cart blanche or just the problem ones?!

I too am seriously not impressed.I was told that "well its not meant to be watertight and if its really heavy rain it will get in !!!!!!!!!!!!"mmmmmmmmmm i thought the one thing a chicken house HAD to be was dry!

I will give the retro fit a chance and i really hope it works but i am afraid it won't.Then i don't know what to do.

I received a retro fit for my Cube from Omlet in the post today (Saturday), quite unexpectedly.

I didn't ask for it, and don't really want it, as my Cube has never leaked. But I suppose I had better hold on to it in case I ever sell my Cube and the buyer wants to have it.

If they are doing it in order of purchase, it would explain why mine came early.

I got my kit yesterday. I did fit it, although I haven't had any trouble with leaks at all.

why did I fit it?

don't know, but I hate throwing things away and thought it might be a good idea.

So I've fitted it, and I'm hoping that it doesn't upset the status quo which was a dry cube.

I remain extremely happy with my cube - it's really the mutts nutts and does the business for my girls.

And I think I'm being a bit dim but I don't understand why they shouldn't send out a kit to everyone - seems like good customer service to me, although a bit of a waste of postage and materials etc. At least it shows me that they have a record of me having a cube and want to take care of me - I could have had leaks but not made the effort to complain.

It may be the post that is to blame: if Omlet sent them all out on Friday, some people will have received them on Saturday, others will have to wait until Monday.

I wasn't complaining about having been sent this fix: it was just a surprise. I can't begin to follow the instructions on how to fit the bits, so if anyone is really desperate and nothing comes on Monday, they can have mine.

One thing I found useful (after having done one side!) was for when you are doing the chute at the top of the side panels. don't take all the sticky back off - leave it on just the middle 'finger' bit (the bit that goes through the panel and then gets stuck along the bottom of the channel along the top.

Once it is pushed through from below, you can unpeel it from the top. It stops it losing any of the 'sticky' as you push it through the hole.

That has probably confused folk totally!

That's a beautiful purple Cube, Egluntine, and quite understandably you have purple Cubes on the brain; but I suspect Claire wanted a picture of the Retro-fit? (Or am I being dim?)

Don't get too excited about the Retrofit: it's a few little pieces of sticky-backed plastic stuff that fit easily in an envelope through a letter box. It's more Blue Peter than Hi-tec.

I got mine yesterday - didn't know they were in the pipeline or ask for them (I have a completely covered run so don't have a problem). Here's a pic of the pieces - I had a quick glimpse at the instructions but gave up trying to understand them

They are supposed to be coming to everyone. I am guessing that they are being sent out in the order that the Cubes were purchased, as I had an early Cube and I got mine on Saturday.

My surname begins with J, so it could just be alphabetical, I suppose.

I couldn't begin to understand the instructions for fitting these pieces, so decided not to bother unless my Cube suddenly starts to leak.

It does seem to be the people who don't need them who are getting them first, but this must be a coincidence....

:lol::lol: as Redfrock has 2 Cubes I'm guessing she mean't Retro kit  or is the Black poly bag hanging out of the nesting box a Retro kit?

:lol::lol: well I didn't like to say anything, and I did keep looking at that black plastic thing and wondering :lol:

I'm quite surprised to see what they are sending out (thanks Fee) - I guess I will just file it with the invoice, as our modification has worked a treat - even in today's downpour. I quite agree with the Blue Peter comment though Gallina  ......
