ajm200
I don't know how your mums had the patience to attempt potty training so early. We tried training my Son at just under a year - all he learnt was to wee as soon as his nappy was off - usually before he was on the potty. The latest attempt isn't much better as he sits patiently on the pot for ages, does nothing. I give up, let him stand up to pull his nappy up and he wees on the floor, says, mum mum, wee wee then claps. I really wish they did come potty-trained from birth
Paola
Oh heck since finding out we are expecting Bean the nappy dilemma has raised its ugly head more than once! We are currently looking at eco-friendly disposables and have been given 2 real nappies from our council to trial. One is made by a company called Little Lamb and seems quite cosy but looks like you need a degree to fasten it! The other has more popper fasteners than a haberdashery! Totsbots is a company i read about a lot and another one called Kushies - TBH its all foreign to me! I have missed your Bean news Emma Congratulations When is it due? BarbaraJ
lol i still use my nappies for childminding, great for baby sick cloths as are the muslins. It wasnt really the terries that made her bum sore as such it was thta she slept 12 hours and woke up drenched.
Tessa the Duchess
Another old forgey here....mine all had terry nappies....and they never had sore bottoms. Another old fogey here too. Disposable nappies weren't made when I had babies, mine never had sore bottoms either. I love terry nappies, you can fold them one way if you have girls and another for boys I used double terrys at night time, they never leaked. Nothing like a row of terry nappies blowing and bleaching naturally on the washing line Tessa
jomaxsmith
I used stuffable nappies with my boys - ones like Fuzzi Bunz that had a fleece inner, waterproof outer and a gap in between to shove in absorbent materials - I used a mixture of hemp and microfibre cloths but anything absorbent can be used. At night I used more absorbent ones like Ella's House hemp Bumhuggers with a wrap over the top. On the washing issue - I wouldn't (and didn't) dry them between the 3 washes - it;s just to get rid of the residues left when the nappies were made. I sold a lot of my cloth nappies on www.thenappysite.co.uk because ebay have stopped selling secondhand nappies. It's worth finding out if you can get any money from your council - I was able to claim £30 from mine on production of receipts. Jo
fairy&cake
Dry them, have you tired tots bots bamboozles?
bronze
My problem hasnt been with nappies. But with the liners. whicever one sI've tried have made dds legs blister except the wool wraps which leaked instead. I can get away with her wearing one washable a day and then moltex/bambo the rest of the time. If anyone has any bright ideas. And to think when she came home she was so small I had to use muslims cut up.
Basset
My problem hasnt been with nappies. But with the liners. I really liked the fleece liners - thought they were fab!
Keanie Bean
I have to agree with Basset there Bronze, we use an old flanelette sheet cut up and folded over but a fleece liner on top makes them really soft and acts like a stay dry layer over the cotton which helps if your baby is sensitive. I'm lucky Daniel has the skin of a rhino I think as we very rarely get any problems. Sarah.x

Tina C
Bron/Lesley - thanks for making my day with that typo. And thanks for the nappy site link - I really must get round to selling our stash of Bambino Mios. After all, Layla is 7 now, she won't be needing them any more Emma - I don't think I have congratulated you. If I have I had forgotten - fantastic news. I won't bother answering the original question as I am sure Shona has decided what to do by now. I love to see a washing line full of nappies! Guest
I won't bother answering the original question as I am sure Shona has decided what to do by now. It was blowing a gale, so they were all washed, dried on the line and re-washed the instructed three times, all within 24 hours. I got those nappy nippa things this time, instead of pins (I'm don;t know how many times I jabbed myself with the pins when i had Owen ), but I don;t really like them - the don't seem to catch the nappy very well. I'm RUBBISH with new technology!!
