what an absolutely brilliant day!!!! :0))))

Recommended Posts

In the words of Lou Reid I've had "such a perfect day"!!!

We had a delish lunch at Subway and then went to Wilkinsons and bought loads of stuff for the camper van, a really nice melamine dinner service, cutlery, kitchen gadgets (I won't bore you with a long list ;))

Then we went to a pub in Hatton (The Hatton Arms) http://www.hatton-arms.co.uk/ which has chickens and a very handsome cockerel in the beer garden!!!! They are rescued free range hens, so that was extra nice!

here's some pics of them and of me saying hello to the them and giving them a bit of grass. It's in a lovely country setting and a really friendly pub, proper oldy worldy, so we'll definitely be going back!

then we came home and let our girls out in the sun and Maud and I had a lovely cuddle while Ian played in the camper van!

Then we decanted our rhubarb schnapps and toasted my dad's health! He's now on a ward and doing very well :D I've had 2 glasses of schnapps so far and it's GORGEOUS. The glasses and bottle are from Ikea by the way ;) Aren't they cute? They're only shot glasses but very elegant I think.

Just settling down for dinner now, what a fabulous day!!!!!! I've been beaming all day :D

Hi..hic..Poet, Right bang in the middle, about 20 km north of Vichy. Lovely unspoilt/undiscovered area. Fantastically friendly people etc.etc ....I could write a book .....like how an unknown farmer dragged us out of a ditch in the snow...and refused an euro for it...said he'd pop round for an aperatif sometime!

If anyone is travelling this way with a caravan/motorhome on the way south, we will be happy to welcome you here as an overnight stop. At the moment we are renovating our barn and hope to do bed and breakfast soon.

In the meantime, I am coming back to the UK at the end of the month to collect my lilac cube and then it will be chooks all the way!!!!!!

you should write a book! I'm a total Francophile and now we have the camper van, we're planning to explore it even more. A B&B in rural France WITH CHICKENS, can't imagine anything more idyllic!

Let me know when the B&B is up and running :D

Sante! (sorry, don't know how to do accents on here)

Hi Poet, not sure when we can get the B&B going....lots a work...but we have the land to accommodate a camper [you would only need it to sleep in]we have all other facilities, just the bedrooms aren't built yet! Looked at your profile: Vichy, opera, architecture, etc. for full info on area check out the Allier and Puy de Dome region of the Auvergne.Just north of us Limousin is nice but if you're going south...skiing about an hour away! Far too much to put on here!

at one point we were going to buy a house in the Limousin region (because ryan air fly from liverpool to Limoges) but then i had to give up work due to ill health so that plan went out of the window. Then we got chickens so I'm glad we didn't really, things have a way of working out for the best ;)

We have chickens in France too! Medical care superb...I was in hosp. twice last year and my rates are about £400 per year to include TV licence. Just a few of the advantages! x

we can't afford it now without my salary but i've never been happier since getting the girls and not rushing round like a BAF any more :D

Glad you had a lovely day, Poet. You deserve it! I love coming across unexpected chickens too. We went to our local craft centre place the other weekend and there was a new garden centre opened. They had chickens and lambs in a field which you could go and "play" with. I had a great time. More so, because I wasn't expecting it. :D
