wombatally
I'm so excited, I'm off on a 2 hour drive to pick up my 3 new hybrids today to join the existing 3. I'm getting an Amber Link, Bluebelle and another to be chosen when I get there. It appears that there are hardly any to be bought in Northumberland / Tyneside and I have found a lovely lady near Sheffield who has all sorts to choose from. Can't wait - the temporary home is in situ next to the big girls home - for those looking for a temp home / sick bay I got a rabbit hutch from Focus for £35 and put a quick run together from temporary fencing. Will take some pics later!! Here are the PICS... wombatally
They're here - survived the journey up the M1 and are settled in their temp home. The others have had a sniff but seem quite indifferent to them. It's so exciting when you can add more chicken symbols to your avatar!!! I have a Blue Ranger (Skye) a pure creamy white Amber Link (Bella) and a Lohman who is more beige than red/brown (Jeannie). I didn't want a lohman as I've already got two goldlines and they're similar but her colouring is amazing - I've never seen one that light before. I will take pics soon. Chickvic - no problem will take some pics when the rain stops. Egluntine - They are called Dave and Jody and have all sorts of hens - and they're really helpful too! Okay, it was nearer to Barnsley than Sheffield but I'm not from the area - their website is www.rawgreencottages.co.uk and I'll definately be back in the spring when EGLU Cube plan comes together and I want to stock it with pure breeds... Egluntyne
Thanks for that. I think I have heard of them before but had forgotten about them. Congratulations on getting yours. Edited June 21, 2008 by Guest
AJuff
It appears that there are hardly any to be bought in Northumberland / Tyneside and I have found a lovely lady near Sheffield who has all sorts to choose from. I'll second that!! No hens up here in the North. nearest place I found was Glencroft poultry in North Yorkshire. They have Ambers and Silvers this weekend. Stock is sold out 3 months in advance. Whats a silver though?? Where are you in Northumberland, you may be near me!!

AJuff
Well I'm pleased to say I have found a poultry breeder in the North who was so friendly and so nice. I have reserved and ordered two Ambers and two Sussex from him. He says demand outstrips supply at the moment and his bird fly in and out very quickly! He is expecting an order of 500 birds at the end of July to cope with demand! Gatehouse Chickens, Seaham Durham. purple hen
HI AJuff, he is quite near us i got my girls from him but sadly he only had bovan goldlines at the time so no choice, but he did go to a lot of trouble to find us 3 distinctly different looking birds, all the girls have been fit and healthy good eaters etc, although i was a bit surprised when i got them home and looked at them properly to find that 2 of the 3 had beaks clipped (couldn't see them very well in his barn because it was really dark).
