Went to school to collect children, bunny now rehomed

Recommended Posts

Quick update:

Splodge seems ok this morning and the hens are now happy with him so no awful bok-bokking today :)

I've shed loads of work to get on with at the moment but will ring round vets etc later on.

There are notices at school, several members of staff are considering giving him a more permanent home.

I'll print some pictures of him to add to the notices.

I will be sad to see him go but want him to be in a home that want him. It's not really practical for us to take on another animal at the moment. *Prudence would be proud* But I couldn't bear to think of him all alone at school :(

The RSPCA don't seem interested in him at all  and said that a lot of rabbits get dumped like this with the holidays coming up

My OH would love to find a rabbit like yours. He's been desperate to get one for our son for the past month after seeing my son's excitement at the petting zoo.

He's even bought extra straw for the strawberries thinking that I'd agree to a rabbit rather than see £1.50 worth of straw go to waste

Well we've all fallen in love with the rabbit.

He is living in the rabbit equivalent of The Ritz in a split level bunny maisonette.

I've called all the local vets and wandered the streets looking for any 'lost bunny' posters but there's no sign.

Unless his owners are away on hoilday I think I have a bunny looking for a new home.

I'll try and post some more piccies later.

He is gorgeous!

We have a lost and found section in our local paper, so maybe you could do that. You could put notices on trees, but I'm sure bunnies could travel quite a distance, so he may not be 'local'.

I went to school once and came back with a tortoise. He was just tottering along the pavement like a little old man. I took him home, the boys loved him and I secretely hoped he wouldn't be claimed. However that afternoon I did put notices on trees and put leaflets through doors and he was claimed that evening. (He had a distinctive mark on his shell that only the owner would have known about).

Good luck with your bunny and hope you find the owner soon, they must be missing him

One of the secretaries at school is going to give him a home, I'm passing the onus of finding his original owner onto her as I have a lot on at the moment.

I'm going to suggest that his new owner takes him to the vet for a quick check up and so that any necessary sexing can take place.

I have contacted all local vets within a 5 mile radius and the other local school to see if anyone has lost a bunny but with no success.

From what I've felt (or not  ) he's either neutered or female :lol:

I would love to have a rabbit but it's really not the right time.

We're going to look after him until Monday so that the boys can say a 'proper' farewell and make sure that he's ready to go in his new home. I didn't think it was fair for them to see him in his hutch this morning then for it to be stood empty by 3pm.
