Tessa the Duchess
I have been a big Leonard Cohen fan for over 30 years, I know he's not everybody's cup of tea, but maybe you had to be around in the sixties to appreciate his wonderfulness Anyway I have never seen him in concert, not live or filmed By the time I realised he was doing a live gig at the O2 arena all the tickets were sold out, I did find some online for £185 each but the day also clashed with a prior engagement, so I didn't buy the tickets. Then to my delight I heard that he was performing a set at Glastonbury and they were showing it on Sunday night on BBC2 sometime between 10.30 and 2.00am. I was very excited and had a bath, washed my hair, clean jammies cracked open a bottle of bubbly new grandson and seeing Leonard, double celebration, and went to bed prepared to watch as long as it took. I sat through almost an hour of 'The Verve' and the witterings of the presenters and then one of them said " Leonard Cohen's set was mindblowing, but unfortunately he refused to be filmed, said the cameras put him off, so we can't show him to you" Sounds to me like Mr. Cohen has turned into a bit of a diva (bowls of white Smarties only in my dressing room please) you know the sort of thing. So I'll never see him, he's 73 probably he'll never do a world tour again and I am upset and hungover because I drank the whole bottle of bubbly to drown my sorrows Tessa
Tina C
I am so sorry Tessa - but your post did give me a laugh - for some reason I am picturing you sat there with bubbly sloshing around looking like Joanna Lumley What a shame though. Maybe something will appear on Youtube?
Cinnamon
How on earth do you get white Smarties? Does he have someone to suck all the colour off them for him? He sounds like fame & self image have gone to his head, which is a shame,I am sure.
Goosey Lucy
Oh Tessa, I'm sorry but I did laugh about the white Smarties. At least you have your new grandson to cuddle, he may not be Leonard Cohen but I bet he'll give you loads more smiles.

chelsea
it could be to do with copyright Tessa. Last year (i think it was last year) I was looking forward to Green Day and i had the same experience ("green day were fantastic") but no footage. Later found out that green day were bringing it out included on one of their DVD'S therefore didnt want non paying tv viewers to see it. Olly
oh no! I hadn't realised he was (not) on last night, otherwise I'd have stayed up. I actually had tickets held on the Ticketmaster website for the 02 gig, but I couldn't remember my password. I couldn't re-register as it recognised me, asked for a new password which was sent to my home email which I cannot access from work ... sure enough by the time I got home it was sold out. Boo! How disappointing that they didn't show it.
