Omlet on Flickr

Recommended Posts

As an avid photographer and having looked through all the posts here, loving all the photos - why has Omlet not got a Flickr group on the go? Flickr is the recognised place for companies to promote themselves and their users these days and I am frustrated that there isn't a group for us.

It is soo much easier to add photos to this forum after uploading to Flickr and it would do the company no harm to have a thriving presence on Flickr!

There IS a group of Eglu owners but from what I can see here - not everyone who uses the Omlet forum owns an Eglu (myself included).

Horses for courses innit. I doubt they can write into the contract of buying an Eglu/Cube that you must put all pics in a Flickr group and people will just use what they are happy with and comfy with.

I set up the Eglu Flickr group (your link went to the 'Urban Chickens' group) - nothing really stopping anyone at all setting up an Omlet group to take in all the various products (though in the Eglu group some people have posted Cube pics and so on as well).

*hangs head* I have never ventured further than Flickr, have never tried Photobucket so don't know that world. . .

Flickr is great for groups of people getting together and gathering photos in *pools* and would be a great way for businesses to promote the atmosphere and fun of its members / owners / users.

There is no restriction on who can start these groups. I could start one up for the forum here and post the link and those who are Flickr members can contribute their photos to it - should you wish to give me the nod to do so.

@Blackpuddinonnabike :o I can't believe I linked incorrectly! Must have had more than one tab open :( Sozzzzz! Thanks for catching that!

No sooner said than done! Here is the new Flickr group for any Omleteers.

Unfortunately I have nothing chicken related just yet to add to it so I would be VERY happy if someone else joined the group and added a few photos to it!

I can add anyone at all as admins to the group - just let me know if you think you ought to be one.

I got a bit stuck on names - you can have quirky names set up for Admin, Moderators and Members and I was going for something along the lines of Head Chook etc but inspiration dried up. If anyone has any ideas let me know!

Looking forward to seeing a few photos in it before too long.

OOOOOOOOOO YAAAAAAAAY I just came back to my computer to find you have been very busy Omleteers! Many new members and photos posted - am very pleased with the response.

Don't worry about joining up (for the likes of Helly Welly who have accounts elsewhere) this group is just a place where Flickr people who already have accounts there can join - it isn't INSTEAD of the Omlet gallery and should be seen as an addition to the wonderfulness that is Omlet!

Ok to answer a question - here is how Flickr says to add a photo to a group: (You first need to go to the main group page here and under the name of the group there ought to be a button to click saying JOIN. Once you have done that follow these instructions.)

How do I share a photo with a group?

Easy! If you're a member of the group, add your photo to the group pool. (If not, join the group, because only group members can contribute to the group pool.)

The easiest way add a photo to a group is to go to the photo's page and click the "Send to Group" button between the photo title and the photo. Then choose the group you want to send it to, and you're done!

Only you and the group administrators can remove a photo from a group pool.

Note: If you share a photo that you marked as private with a group you are a member of, it's as if other group members have full access to that photo. They can add comments, notes, and tags. The photo isn't displayed for people who aren't members of the group.

@Tessa: Does this answer your question which came in while I was typing?

There, does that help? Any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. :D
