Sorry, bit of a boring topic, but something that's really bothering me now. Has anyone got any tips for cleaning showers? Specifically with regards to water marks? We have 2 lovely, large showers each with a clear enclosure, but the water marks build up to a ridiculous level. I make sure that the shower is squeedgied down after every use, and then I polish it every morning, and have been using a proprietary shower cleaner, but still the watermarks persist . I'm spending more time cleaning the showers each day than I do cleaning the kitchen, and this simply won't be practical once I've got myself a job and need to shower and go in the mornings.

 

So apart from suggesting that the entire family start taking baths instead is there anything that actually works on watermarks

I use Bathroom Power and E cloths.

 

Leave the cleaner on for a few minutes and then wipe off with the Ecloth, finishing with the blue glass cloth used dry.

 

If there is a big build up you might have to go non- green first and use some HG products if they have them over there.

 

A steam cleaner might help too.

Thanks Egluntine. I didn't even think of the steam cleaner......might be worth giving it a go. In fairness there isn't much build up yet, but there are clear watermarks that I'm simply not removing properly despite my best efforts and I'm worried that a real build up could happen. Could be that a weekly steam cleaning is called for

Have you tried vinegar? Isn't that supposed to work wonders on limescale and watermarks?

Vinegar and bicarbonate of soda seem to work on my limescale. Good luck

Yup, vinegar does it. And now and then a good go at Viakal does the trick too.

I have problems with my glass shower enclosure Kate - I clean it after every use, but the marks look like limescale, but aren't shifted by any limescale remover.

 

I hope that you can get yours sorted.

We use white vinegar to clean all glass and remove limescale from the bathroom and kitchen taps and tiles. It works a treat and is much cheaper than the limescale removal products.

This is such an annoying problem - I'm the only one who cleans the shower screen. I've got one of those spray things to use after the shower but I swear I'm the only one who uses it

 

I might give the vinegar/bicarbonate a go.

I tried vinegar....liberal amounts too and all that happened was that the bathroom smelled like a chip shop . Watermarks still there .

 

Not tried the steam cleaner yet though. It was evening here when I picked up Egluntine's suggestion and I'd got myself very comfortably (and lazily ) ensconsed on the sofa, so I didn't quite round to it. But it's a new day today. Just as soon as I manage to tear myself away from the forum I'll get the old steam cleaner out

Are yuu sure the watermarks are in fact limescale? After all being in Rotorua they could consist of all kinds of minerals!!! Do you know any of your neighbours well enough to ask them?

 

 

Or you could always do what Freddie suggests and move to Devon!!!!!
