Batten down the hatches!!

Recommended Posts

We had dreadful thunder and lightning overhead the other night - a couple of nearby houses were hit. Our girls in the Cube seemed not a bit bothered by it and were sitting at the door watching the display. Our poor recently arrived ex-batts however were screaming in the shed, resulting in me and OH (he who "claims" to hate chickens) having to go out and sit with them - they were rubbing against our legs like cats and needed a bit of comforting - poor souls.

it;s raining cats and dogs here too...every time I step outside it chucks it down, every time I go in it stops...I made a dash for it after it stopped thinking it would be a good while before it started again...lol, I had stretch trousers on and it threw it down resulting in trouser legs a clown on stilts could wear...lmao... birdies are very interested in the thunder, sat on the perch watching it belting down with rain knowing it cant get to them.... dashing over to a peice of corn every now and then and shaking with absolute disgust when a spot of rain dares to land on them by accident!!!!!....:roll:

Got my ex-batts six weeks ago and it did nothing but rain for the first two weeks. Initially they thought they'd died and gone to little chookie heaven, then they thought they were reincarnating as ducks

After that, no rain at all for four weeks and I'd just squeezed the last few drops out of the water butts when it threw it down yesterday. I was the only person in the office that was delighted to see rain! It's just heaved down again this morning, so I won't have to water the veggies today either :D

The scoffalots were amazingly unfazed by the thunder, unlike the cats who disappeared under the bed. The scoffalots weren't impressed by the heavy rain last night, as it interrupted their playing-out time and all wandered back into their yard to take shelter, complaining. At one point they were joined in the yard by Loki, my younger cat and were quite happy to share the shelter of the run with him, but bok-bok'd loudly when he got his paws on the ladder for a look inside their Cube.

I reckon we should all put in an order for sunshine during the day and rain every night between the hours of midnight and 5am. All chickens/cats/children happy and plenty of water for the lettuces (grown for the chickens).
