Oh my goodness!!

Recommended Posts

I was a bit 'post-partum' tired and not up to much confronting.

I got so frightened I said 'OK' he never insulted me, just came into the house uninvited, which was scary enough.

 Not surprised you were scared! Some bloke bargeing into your home and when you had a tiny baby in the house. What a horrid man. Does make me feel slightly better actually - only in as much that I'm not the only one with awful people. Actually I think your story is worse because although he was not insulting he was in your house when you did not want him there. I think I would have hid when he came to the door again.

I will not see that chap again, unless he is here with intent, as he works for the company I ordered the product from not a delivery company, as they are one and the same. I would not use the company again as they are not very good at customer relation - understatement!

A friend of a friend was in the shower and her two small children were watching the tele when one of the children came into the bathroom and said Mummy there is a man downstairs, she said don't be silly there is no one else here, he insisted there was a man downstairs and so she got out of the shower wrapped in a towel went downstairs and there was a delivery company man standing in her living room! He had knocked on the front door, getting no answer he had walked round to her back door (putting his hand over the fence and unbolting the gate from the other side as he went!) and came in through the door she had left unlocked  . She appeared and went mad screaming at him to get out of her house, he just said well I thought you were in so decided to come in and bring you your parcel  ! She phoned the company and said what had happened but again, she did not phone the police as she felt very vunerable being home alone during the day with her children. She does not leave the back door unlocked at all now, even when they have been out playing in the garden in summer. She also told the delivery company not to sack the guy as he knew where she lives.

I think we all have a need to protect our own and maybe selfish to the next person, you have to protect your children. As I said before I would call the police if I lived on my own.

:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

Great advice already posted above 8)

I would feel like you do...scared to report this 'MAD' man to the police for fear of reprisal...it takes a lot of guts...of which I personally lack at times...but I so wish I didn't.

I am sending you a BIG squeezy hug...hope it helps in some little way :)

I am so sorry that you had to experience such an abysmal incident...what the hell is going on in our society

That was a dreadful experience - why is it delivery people are nasty - I get loads of parcels at work and some are for members of staff including myself who get parcels delivered as we are at work all day - they get really cross when I sign it as unexamined and really dont like me signing that but I am not to be responsible for any breakages by them.

I feel a bit worried now. As I am at work all week I routinely get parcels sent to my mum and dad's house round the corner. They are in their 70's. I'd hate to think of something like this happening to them.

Dogs and chickens - I can understand you not wanting to take it further with the police, but have you considered contacting Which and telling them of your experience?

Edited typo

I agree with everyone else who says report him. It is totally unacceptable behaviour and he should lose his job.

We recently had a delivery where the package was damaged and our experience is how things should be: the delivery driver pointed out the damaged package and said we did not have to accept it and if we did not want it he would write on the delivery note that it was being returned because of the damaged package. Then he waited while we phoned the company we bought the item from to see whether they needed it back or would send a replacement anyway. It took quite a while to do this and the delivery men were very happy to wait until we decided what we wanted to do.

That is the standard we should expect from delivery companies.

You should name and shame the company involved...after all that is what gets results...they may not care too much about you, but they will care if they think that they might lose lots more custom.

Who are they?

Log it with the Police so they have a record. If he should come back and he won't. Then they would have a record of the first incident and more likely to respond if you needed to contact them again, also if you don't then he is free to do it to someone else. Don't let this racist idiot get away with it or he's won.

I would register a written complaint with the company (to show you've gone through all the steps of notifying them) and report to the police. He is banking on the fact you won't do anything. The company is trying to brush it under the carpet too it sounds like.

You could see if by suggesting in writing you will contact the police (but not actually reporting) has any effect. Possibly citizen's advice could advise. Write down anything you can remember while it is still fresh in your mind. Did your neighbours witness anything?

You could try BBC Watchdog.
