Dodge
I have just had a call from Tara from the Brighton Animal Action group. I have been offered the chance to rehome a couple of EOL free range chooks. So me and OH are off to Sussex tomorrow to pick them up. She told me that over the course of this week, they have rescued 9,900 chickens All these chickens were destined for the pet food industry So I was amazed at what they had achieved. People from all over the country have been involved in rehoming them. I will keep you all posted how I get on when I have got my new girls home. Dodge
We are now the proud owners of 2 EOL free range girls, taking our flock back upto a total of 4 Here's a pic of me with my new girls. I could'nt understand why my OH started to burst out laughing when she was taking these pics. THANKS A LOT!!!!! "I save you frrom the knacker's yard, and that's the thanks I get." The new girls have each laid an egg on both days since we have had them. and they are getting used to their new accomodation. I am following Egluntine's comprehensive guide to introducing new girls too the letter and so far so good I was very surprised when we collected our new girls from the farm, as they were in excellent condition. They also seem very tame and allready eat out of our hands and follow us around the garden. I just wish that we had room for some more The people from The Brighton Animal Action group did a fantastic job rescuing nearly 10,000 chooks from certain death over the course of last week. I am just so glad that I was able to help in a small way. I will keep you posted on how we get on. Kind regards Dodge
Ange1
Oh Dogdge what wonderful photos! Like the second one, you wear your 'badge of honour' with pride!! As you say, the girls are in wonderful condition. Keep us posted on how they settle in. I'm sure if you're following Egluntine's advice all will be well! SAB
They are lovely lucky ladies (if a bit disrespectful to your trousers!). What good condition, really shows the difference between them and my ex-batts (and my ex-batts were not too bad at all) - their colouring is lovely Dodge, really vibrant! By the way, you are not meant to mention Brighton at this time of year - the reason is that I spent a glorious 6 months on work experience there way back in the summer of 1994 and I still pine for it every summer - as I recall, a lovely place with lovely people - if I had not wanted to live close to family and friends I would never have come back!!!!
