Peachy77
I know its probably been asked before - but how much garlic powder and brokashi bran do people use, and should it be used everyday?
quickcluck
I think it's a couple of tsp of garlic and a couple of handful bokashi in each grub load......
stoice
Sounds about right quickcluck. Although I don't have a grub, just a normal feeder I found too much garlic too soon just put them off it (Bokashi too actually). If they turn their beaks up maybe start off with small amounts and increase it.
Peachy77
Thanks. Put some garlic powder in last night ready for today, but think they may have been too much as i not sure i have seen them eating in. Will go and give it a good mix round, and out some more food in to dilute it a bit!
jackiepoppies
Hi everybody, Just a quick question, [please don't laugh at my ignorance]. My girls are quite happy eating fresh and cooked garlic. Is this as good for them as garlic powder or do I still need to give them that as well? Thanks, Jackiex
Egluntyne
I'm sure fresh and cooked garlic is good for them....it is supposed to offer some protection against parasites by altering the PH etc. Can't see any problems in adding garlic powder too, although if you are too heavy handed it might taint the eggs. Mutrix Farmers
I mix garlic powder and bokashi bran in the pellet porridge. 1/4 teaspoon garlic and 3 teaspoons bokashi to about 2 cups of pellets. They ahve this every morning. I've been known to add it to pasta, rice, even cut up grapes, as it sticks to the food. When I mix it with dry pellets it just falls to the bottom of the grub. New Girl
I'm a bit heavy handed with the garlic, I add a tablespoon full to their grub and 2 handfulls of bokashi. The eggs do have a garlicness, but I like that! extra flavour to my poached eggs.
Duckmomma
Duck poo smells bad so I put lots of garlic powder in, I have to agree that it improves the taste of the eggs, they don't taste garlicky just have nicer flavour. So even if you don't like garlic don't let it put you off using it in their food.
Steph101
I put a handful of bokashi and a heaped tsp of garlic powder with each grubful.
Jan
I use garlic granules (as sold for horses!). The pellets aren't all coated with garlic so they aren't put off eating them, and I don't get much left in the glug
