spratly0
Does anyone have one of these Cuisinart Professional Ice Cream Maker I would really like one but the cost is huge if its no good or one of those gadgets that look like a good idea at the time but never get used. Unfortunately i have fallen into this trap before but the cheapest i have seen this is £260.00 and i don't want to waste my money! If you do have one is the ice cream really THAT much better than shop bought?
tiggerlady
We have a small version that you put the bucket in the freezer overnight and it churns a mixture for you till it freezes.Yes it does taste very nice although when you are using cream etc not sure about calories!! Why not try one of these first as theyre a whole lot cheaper and see how you get on? (We have a kitchen full of 5 minute wonders!!)
dancing cloud
I have the Gaggia machine that costs about the same and I love it. You know exactly what has gone into your ice-cream/sorbet/frozen yoghurt and you can make it whenever you want as there is no pre-freezing. You probably won't recoup the costs of the machine, but you will be welcome at parties
jlo
They had one on Special Offer in the Good Food Magazine a couple of months ago and I phoned up to order it and then had a fit of the guilts. When I phoned back to cancel, they said they were out of stock anyway so I guess it wasn't meant to be! I have a friend who swears by hers and the ice cream was delish but I just can't justify the expense!
spratly0
mmm a friend has the type suggested by tiggerlady i might try that first as my eldest daughter lives away from home at uni now and the youngest will be moving in a year to go to uni too. not sure the expense is justified for two people to have a luxury treat every now and then would love one though! Lesley
We have one of the cheaper ones as well - it's brilliant and makes a reasonable amount. We also have a spare container which we always keep in the freezer. It came from Lakeland.
dogs and chickens
Which did a report on ice cream makers a couple of months ago where they tested them all, are you a which memeber? If not let me know and I'll look it out and find there best buy in both styles for you. I have not got one but must admit I did decide to get one having read the report but then decided I don't eat much ice cream so would not be much point! I did make some home made stuff over the summer though, I had to take it out and stir it every hour for about 15 hours The ice cream maker would have just made it! (just realised that I have talked about the summer in a past text - I wonder why !)

Lindy Loo
We also have one of the ones where you put the inside container in the freezer overnight -it is brilliant. The icecream is fab! We got it as a Wedding present almost 20 years ago so. We have replaced the freezer bowl once in that time so it is also very durable.javascript:emoticon:D

redhotchick
I've got one were you freeze the bucket first too. I keep mine in the freezer all the time. It was about £30 from Argos, can't remember the make. It's great, the banana and cream ice-cream is my favourite. I like to eat it freshly made. My nieces love helping me make (and eat) ice-cream.
