Cinnamon
I have 4 huge cabbages still left in the garden - we have ploughed our way through 2 big'uns already Anyone got any ideas on ways to cook them, other than boiling & having with a roast, then bubble & squeaking the leftovers? They are the green type rather than the white ones.
Rhapsody
Shred and stir-fry with black onion and mustard seeds. Shred and add to any kind of stir-fry. Fill leaves with bolognese sauce, roll up like cigars and bake with mozzarella on top for a low-carb canneloni. Ermmmmmmm.......cant think of any more right now. gracefruit
I sometimes make a stew with onions, potatoes, cabbage and smoked Polish sausage. Smoked kabanossi sausage from Lidl also works well.
craftyhunnypie
Make Sauerkraut? I'd have to look up the recipe for you. You could always do the cabbage soup diet! Emma.x
chickencam
Same here I have about 6 huge cabbages sitting on the allotment being nibbled by slugs. We are going to shred some in a stir fry tonight and have some with Sunday lunch. We have eaten a lot of coleslaw this week too, one batch had lovely fresh apple just about ripe that had fallen of my family apple tree it was the biggest on there so I am glad that it was just about ripe enough to eat. Cinnamon
Stir fry sounds great - I am also going to throw some into the chicken casserole I have planned for next week. I have also found this - http://www.cookitsimply.com/category-0020-01j54.html
Blackrocksrock
Gosh what a lot of recipes you can use with the humble cabbage - its great to be able to graze the net for these. Will bookmark this one. Enjoy the cabbages.
Valkyrie
Thinly shredded and deep fried AKA Chinese "seaweed", might need to sprinkle a bit of caster sugar - you would get that in the restaurant with some shrimp powder (dunno where that would come from). I like it without the sugar, but haven't done it for years.
