Mrs Frugal
I was sent these photos this morning and the babies are modelled from marzipan! The detail is outstanding though how you could really eat them is beyond me! I assume they are for the tops of christening cakes but they are adorable! Diana1
My first reaction was ooh cute but then they are a bit weird too - almost too real. How on earth do they get that detail so small.
Guest
You couldn't eat them - that'd be worse than eating jelly babies!
Mrs Frugal
They are incredibly real, aren't they and no I couldn't eat them either Shona. It wouldn't be right, would it!
Hellcat
They are beautiful! Even got the tufty hair. Ahhhh! I'd love one for the top of 5 of 5's christening cake but at this rate he'll be dancing down to the font! we tried to set a date for July but the Hub is off shooting (again) every date the church could do. Ho hum.
Mrs Frugal
We finally got round to christening Ollie just before his 10th birthday ! It was nice for him though as he got to choose how it was done and decided on his own hymns etc. We didn't have to go through the screaming we had when Tom was christened as a little 'un though! Made all the difference and we actually enjoyed the day !
Diana1
We didn't get Amy and Carla christened until they were about 4 and 2. I was hopping to get Erik done as well - some holy water did splash on him. Perhaps he might consider it when we christen Archie.
ali-s
My goodness, they do look real I couldn't imagine eating one. That would be cruel.
Guest
Lesley's right - they're creepy! You just know that if you watch long enough - the eyes are going to open and stare at you... be afraid - be very afraid.... I'd run a mile from a cake with one of them on it.... Cinnamon
I am not sure about them. The detail is amazing, but I could NEVER eat one. I fooled the children by saying "come look at this tiny newborn baby"
Karen & co.
I couldn't eat one as I don't like marzipan, but I don't think I could anyway can't decide if I think they are cute or creepy , but the detail is amazing! karen x
The Dogmother
I love marzipan, but I'm with you all on not being able to eat them. I find those china dolls spooky too - they look like dead babies
Guest
My mum has a doll sitting in her bedroom - it's got a china face, and is the size of a newborn. It wears my Christening gown, and my mum loves it, only it was dropped when I was young (probably by me.. ), and the face is cracked and the eyes have fallen back into her head. Used to give me the willies when I was wee, and still does a bit now!
Guest
I remember the day when my mother gave our daughter her first doll with opening-eyes... Carys picked it up - full of delight - and as she tilted it, the eyes opened - she screamed and ran out of the room, and the doll was never allowed in her bedroom! I find lots of dolls creepy! Lesley
I prefer mine to look like this.......... small and no detail (nothing to do with the fact that I couldn't make one of those marzipan babies ) Lauren's Christening cake top
