Ain't Nobody Here
YS put some crumpets in the toaster last night. They got stuck . "Switch it off at the wall and I'll have a go", says I. Had to put 2 knives in to prise gooey crumpet off from the wire bits. BANG FLASH SCREAM . YS had indeed switched something off .... but it wasn't the toaster . My fault, should've checked. Fuse trips and everything below waist height downstairs goes off (including PC which OH was working on ). So we need a new toaster. There's a nice one in Argos for £130 . Seagazer
Oh no - are you alright? I always use knives if they get stuck and switch off and pull the plug out. Ihave warned YS never, ever to do it, but he is such a crumpet monster I dread him doing it. It would be so easy to think you've switched off the right one. Goosey Lucy
I'm off to buy a toaster tomorrow Not because I've killed ours, there isn't one in the cottage and I hate grilling bread to make toast, it always burns. Glad to hear you've escaped unscathed, ANH, I've been warned about toasters and knives but hadn't really paid much attention til now. Stevie
Im glad you posted this ANH cos im forever sticking knives into toaster without switching off so i need a boot up the botty! My problem is i dont see danger so will happily clean the mower without unplugging it for example-until someone screams at me.. .
Ain't Nobody Here
Not so long ago I was sternly telling a girl at work not to stick a knife in the toaster in the staff room . See, I did know you shouldn't do it, it was just the switching the wrong appliance off that did for me . I also had a go at the same girl about not wearing a bike helmet. She did start wearing one shortly afterwards .
