can someone get a tape measure out for me please :0)?

Recommended Posts

we're thinking of getting a cube with some of Ian's redundancy money. He cleaned the coop out today and although we love our wooden coop, he has to kneal down to do it and he's aching all over. I thought with the cube being high up, it would be easier for him to clean it out but we need to check it will fit in the existing space.

I know the run for the cube is 2 metres long but what is the length in total with the cube attached please?

If it won't fit, we'll have to think again.

remember the outer dimensions include the 20cm skirt on all sides - i.e. the length is 2m, but internal length that the chickens use is 1.6m, as you lose 20 cm at each end - same with the width.

thanks :D

just thinking, if we attach the cube run to our walk in run, how do we get to the grubs/glugs? :?

this is what we have now and the small run and coop will be replaced with the cube/run. Will we have to crawl into the cube run to retrieve them?

there's a greenhouse behind the coop now too so that's why we need to make sure it will fit

Very exciting way to spend some money  One thing I thought was that you need to be able to get around the cube as the door handle is one one side and it pulls out quite a bit, and the eggport it on the other hope that doesn't cause problems :?

You are welcome to come over and see ours 'in action' if you like :D

Hi Poet

I had a similar "problem" with attaching the Grubs and Glug to my waslk in run. Our walk in run is made with 1 inch square 16 guage weldmesh, and the grub & glug just didn't fit.

We used some of the Omlet mesh (we had some left over from our adjustments) to make little panels. These hooked onto our weld mesh, and the grub and glugs were hung onto those. You could buuy a small piece of mesh with the right sized holes and do something similar.

here are some pictures, which might help.

From above:

The Profile - the top has "hooks" to hang it over the weldmesh, and you'll see it's been shaped at the top and the bottom. This is so that it stands proud from the mesh, to make hanging and supporting the superglug easier

And here's a picture of it in situ, from BEHIND the Superglug

Hope that helps.

You do get the grubs & glugs, yes.

Mt hubby got some metal stuff to attatch the g&g's to the inside of the run....I think you can see it here .... you can buy this stuff in B&Q I think

As an alternative you could attatch the entire cube run to your exsisting run,to make even more space,if you have the room.

Looking at you pictures, the cube would probably butt up nicely to the end of your run 8)

It will make life so much easier for you - cleaning out becomes a pleasure rather than a chore...well,when its sunny it does anyhow!

oh yes, Ian's decided (notice IAN, NOT me! ;)) that if we get a cube, we will have room for 2 more ex batts!

We'll use the old wooden coop/run as an introduction coop etc!
