Guest
http://www.omlet.co.uk/products_services/products_services.php?view=Eglu%20Cube&about=the%20eglu can you please tell me if your rooves are flush with the sides of the cube, as in the photo? can you post some pics of yours for me to compare? thanks very much
MadMitch
Mine have quite a gap down the sides, they are certainly not like the omlet picture. I think it allows the water to drain down if you have the cube outside and not in a coverd run.
Guest
we went to see another omleteer's cube yesterday and hers had gaps too, it's concerned me because if I had bought it unseen, just from the photo, I wouldn't have got what I wanted. I love the flush look on the photo Not sure what to do now. Can I have some more opinions please?

Cinnamon
Mine is not as flush as the Omlet photo, but nowhere near as gappy as Mitches photo either. Hubby is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to putting things together though
Gallina
My cube roof is flush just like the one in the photograph on the side shown, but has a huge gap on the other side. It was put together by Johannes himself, and he said it was essential to have a gap on one side of the roof (but not the other) for drainage. He must be right, because it has never leaked, yet doesn't have the fix. Here is a picture of the side with the gap (with apologies to those who have seen it before). That picture was taken when it was almost brand new, as other people were asking about the gap. You forget the gap is there after you have had the cube for a day or so. Guest
thanks all so far, I'm cursed with being a perfectionist and I'm in two minds now about ordering one, they all seem to fit differently! never mind life being like a box of chocolates, it seems to be like an omlet cube! ubereglu
I'm sure you're love it when you get it though!!!
Guest
I'm sure you're love it when you get it though!!! maybe I will but it's a lot of money to invest in something that doesn't appear to slot together quite as it should, or at least seems to fit together differently each time. I'm going to contact omlet and see what they say and then decide. I don't think it's too much to ask for what I buy to look the same as in the photo that advertises the cube
MadMitch
I'm afraid with anything which is moulded, you will never get perfection, there will always be a tollerance of +/- something. Otherwise you would be woking to microns which just isn't possible with that type of mould.

I need to give it a great deal of thought now as I'm not sure whether to go ahead. Thanks for all your feedback though. p.s. he never mentioned drainage incidentally. chelsea
ours has gaps, this is one of the reasons why we dont like our cube IMO it isnt so sleek and neat/streamlined as the eglu.
Guest
ours has gaps, this is one of the reasons why we dont like our cube IMO it isnt so sleek and neat/streamlined as the eglu. the photo on the web site is very streamlined though, that's what I don't understand It's obviously possible to get a streamlined, flush one and that's what I want! chelsea
as someone else has said the gaps are apparently there for a reason (to help with water/rain/leakage etc - who knows! ) Maybe the photo was taken before they decided the gaps were needed as you probably know they did have some problems with leaking cubes. Gallina
The photo on the website shows the side where there isn't a gap. There is only supposed to be a gap on one side (according to Johannes). I know some people have put the Cube together so that there are two small gaps, but the man who designed it said there should only be one big one. I didn't like it either when I first saw it, but you soon stop seeing it. The cube is so much more fun for the hens. I have been inside a cube run and an eglu run myself, and the difference is tremendous.
Maccbean
Hi All We received our cube this week, and put it together today. I was specifically looking to see if there was any mention on the forum of gaps etc, which is why I am posting now. I truly am not bothered as long as my chickens are warm and dry. If we manage to finish the run (95% done) by Saturday, they'll be arriving then, so we shall wait and see. I am sure we will have plenty of rain next week to try it out:) Cheers Debbie
Plum
Just a point about the photos on omlet site is that if you notice the runs dont show clips - a bit of poetic license.
