miffy
last night when we went to close the door on eglu we found the grub on the floor of the run, full of grass which looked as though it had been scratched from the ground. We had checked them all about 3 hours earlier and all was well. This has happened once before. The girls are about 30 weeks old and we are getting 3 eggs from 3 girls for the last few days. Do we have a problem or is this normal?
Sandychick
How did the grub get on the floor? It would take a super strong chicken to knock it off the side of the run. I would be a bit worried that something bigger than a chicken is taking their food.
ruth1
mine knock the grub of the hangers I've got on the side of the run, I ve seen them do it, the Leghorn takes a running jump and bounces on an off the grub, if it doesnt fall she goes back for another go Meanwhile the others gather around watching the entertainment and when it falls they all scatter and give you 'what it just fell like' looks Pain in the neck with regards to the spilled pellets but well up there in entertainment value

alison
I have put a a piece of chain around the centre of mine and looped it onto the pen wire, likewise with the glug. It makes it that bit more secure.
