Craft Fair on Sunday

Your bags are really gorgeous.

My ED has just finished making her first bag, she bought a pattern whilst we were away on holiday then bought some curtains and a pink and white candy stripe sheet. I will have to grab it for a photo, she is using it for school.

Where did you get you original patterns from?

She has just started making one for a friend to give to his sister for her birthday. She is making it from a lovely deep red duvet cover which is poly-cotton on one side and lovely shimery nylon on the other it looks really glamorous. She bought the double cover and 2 pillowcases for £5 from a charity shop, we have cut the cover down to a single for her so she has the rest of the fabric for bag making.

I am a total sewing novice, I have only ever used my machine for altering curtains and doing other straight lines. We have entered a whole new world of interfacing and neddles and finding the oiling points on the machine

What kind of interfacing do you use for the more flimsey fabrics? Iron on or sew on?

Sounds gorgeous - definitely need photos!

I've never used a pattern. Size and style are determined by how much fabric I have! I just make it up as I go along

Thats exactly how I started - never let lack of knowledge put you off doing anything!

I don't tend to use interfacing. The one time I had some very flimsy fabric to work with, I stitched the patchwork squares to some plain curtain lining material to give them strength. Although I do have some iron on interfacing left over from dressmaking projects many years ago if I ever do need it.

And Hi DaBee - nice to see you on here! 8):D
