Electricbarbarella
Stripey has still got lice, we treated her with johnsons and now diatom every few days but they just wont go. Is it worthj cutting her feathers off, problem is they are in her wing pits as well as round her vent. her vent area is always mucky, none of the others have them. Today I have found 2 softies in the roosting bit and am worried that it is now starting to affect her. So a trim, johnsons again or keep going as we have been? Egluntyne
I would tidy her vent area up and treat her with Xeno200, an ivermectin product. *Not licensed for poultry in the UK.
Ain't Nobody Here
I did trim Molly's feathers - there weren't that many with eggs on them and they were just round her vent, so it wasn't too difficult. The lice seemed to disappear immediately after one spray with Johnsons and a trim.
Susie
Whats Johnsons?
Ain't Nobody Here
It's anti mite & lice spray. Only £3 or so, from pet shops. I got mine from Pets At Home. Here's a picture so you know what it looks like. http://www.petstuffgalore.co.uk/bird-products/pest-control/johnsons-anti-mite-spray-100ml.html
iar fach goch
I have just sprayed my girls with Johnsons but don't know what to do about the eggs, I really don't want to cut them off, I'm scared of hurting them and hubbie reckons they would be bald and cold after cutting them out. Any ideas?
Ain't Nobody Here
Depends how many feathers are affected, I suppose . Molly only had about half a dozen or so of the fluffy bum feathers affected so it wasn't a problem. I don't know what happens to the eggs once you've sprayed Johnsons on them. Does it kill the eggs and the beasties ?
