Egluntyne
Very cold here and the pavement glinting with frost......as I discovered at 6am when I remembered it was paper recycling bin day. Surprising how many dog walkers there were on our stretch of road at that time of the morning. All shouting a cheery "Good morning! " I think it was my pyjamas that caught their eye. Lesley
been absolutely freezing here, minus 2 overnight and very sharp frost which has stayed with us all day as not much sun at all. I look the height of fashion today (not!) in cerise tshirt, with purple knitted jumper over the top, a grey hoodie over the top of that, big pink fluffy scarf and pink stripey gloves.... (I havent been out looking like this though! )...layering is the only way I can keep warm. I should hope not! - I would hope you were wearing some trousers as well? Just cold and very wet here this morning
The Dogmother
Woke up this morning to snow falling heavily, but it didn't last and has now turned to sleet, which is making it pretty skiddy Chelsea, I walk the pup in my PJs, but I do have multiple layers on top.. it's only a matter of time before I forget the jogger bottoms and get funny looks in the park
chickencam
I went to the post office at 5pm last night and the pavements were already lethal, it was really cold all evening, but by the time i got up this morning it was raining. Reports of black ice on local roads. It has been drizzling most of the morning but now a weak sun is peeping out My YD is singing with her school choir at the light switch on round at our local shops this evening, with mince pies etc in the pub afterwards, really hoping it stays dry for that, although a light dusting of snow would add atmosphere. Heavy rain is more likely though

Chicken Licken
down to -6 overnight here last night - took ages to defrost the schoolminibus and get it back to school. Today cold, followed by sleet and now rain and wind. We have retreated to the sofa for the evening - must clean the grate so I can light the fire tomorrow. The forecast is wet and windy and cold here for tomorrow - I have to get my christmas shopping done so will be wrapping up warmly.
Redwing
Woke up this morning to snow falling heavily, but it didn't last and has now turned to sleet, which is making it pretty skiddy VERY skiddy, I slid my two month old car in to a gateway on a bend in the road - luckily missing gate posts and hedge! It took me 27 mins to do a one mile 'shortcut' on the plus side the fields were looking beautiful in the sunny snowy weather (perhaps I should try looking at the road instead )
Egluntyne
Oh heck. How scary for you. It had been a lovely crisp, bright day here. Very windy now though.

A trick is to carry a sleet or old blanket bigger than the wind screen start the electrics on the minibus switch the wiper on so they move over the screen. Then switch off the electrics ( key you use to start the engine) as the wipers are part way across the screen. Next open blanket , lift wipers, place blanket flat onto the screen place one then the other wiper over the blanket to hold it in place. Now open passenger door and trap an edge of the blanket in the door space and carefully close the door trapping the fabric. Lock the door and now repeat for the other other side door. This will stop frost on the screen. To remove do the job in reverse, place sheet / blanket in a bin bag and dry at home or school. If you keep the minibus in the drive at home before you use it you could run an electric cable from the home to the minibus open a window and place cable through the open window. Close it slightly the carefully place a fan heater within the minibus. Ensure that the fan heater is safe and will not cause a fire. Switch the mains on and allow the warm air to spread around the minibus thus warming the bus and clearing the windows. Hope the above helps. hillfamily
Bucketing down here ......... I've put all the Christmas lights on to cheer the house up :D The girls look so forlorn and drenched - I've just added another rain cover to the side of their run to give them a bit more shelter from the wind
chelsea
sounds the same all over the country cold, dark and wet here (also with lights on)
Egluntyne
I thought I'd have a sortie into town, having decided that it would be deserted because of the rain.....and it was. I suppose everyone has gone to Meadowhell. I didn't have to join queues more than 2 deep anywhere, and got a parking space straight away. So bad weather does have its advantages. Lesley
Not here is didn't! The island at the end of our drive flooded - the postman told us there was a car stuck in the flood (again!) Three police cars attended and the road had to be closed - we ended up making tea for everyone and taking wellies down so that the mother and daughter in the stranded car could get out and come and use our facilities while thay waited for the breakdown truck. They had already called breakdown so we didn't have to tow them out of the flood. I wasn't feeling well at all and had to pretend I was OK Quite a few roads around here are closed according to the WPC I spoke to - including the main A46. The village 2 miles away where we used to live had what looked like 2 rivers - there aren't any rivers usually!

Chicken Licken
grim her - cold wet and windy. I am going to get the chooks another shower curtain so they are totally protected from the outside world - poor girlies. I have now lit the rayburn in the hope of boosting the temperature in the house. Yuck.
Egluntyne
There seem to be floods everywhere, having just looked at the news. How awful for those affected.
Ardene5
Hi Everyone Here in Preesall near Backpool we like the rest of the UK have had wall to wall rain. It has only just stopped within the last hour about 9.30 pm. We hope that those of you who go flooded were OK & also your hens were OK. Also that it did not come into your property and ruin the Christmas cheer. Lesley
There seem to be floods everywhere, having just looked at the news. How awful for those affected. Our two refugees were heading back to Plymouth and I think, from what they've just said on the news, that they may have been heading into flooding down there as well The woman did say that her husband had been woken by the Floodline telephone call alerting them to the floods coming. Redwing
We had rain like everyone else yesterday! I drove down to my mums house in Somerset and it took over four hours, I passed three horrible accidents ( hopefully the people involved were ok) and was diverted three times because of flooding Today is very damp but not raining (yet)
