Mutrix Farmers
Well we got wet again this summer under canvas so we have invested in a caravan! It's 2 berth with a huge awning for Son to sleep in. We are taking it away for the first time this weekend. Really excited at the thought of regular weekends away next year that don't cost the earth in hotel bills!! Does anyone know of a good site that is spitting distance from a beach in either Kent or Sussex?
Snowy
Sounds great! The kids especially will love it! Don't know of any camp sites in that area, but have you looked at this site: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/

Seagazer
We have a static caravan in Dymchurch (relatives live near by). There are lots of touring campsites down that end of the world. There is one on our site (New Beach) the sea is opposite the camp site but does not go out far enough for you to sit on there but you can walk along the sea wall into Dymchurch to the beaches there. Mutrix Farmers
thankyou everyone. I'll certainly try ukcampsite. I have fond memories of the Dymchurch/St Mary's Bay area as we used to holiday there when I was little, and it's a perfect distance for driving after work on a Friday. Looking forward to lots of rides on the railway!!! Well the first trip is this weekend, to Maidstone, just far enough to test everything out and not too far to get to my parents' house if I've forgotten something! little chickadee
another really good idea is to join the caravan club http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/ they have lots and lots of member only sites with a maximum of 5 vans. There are a lot of lovely little sites which aren't busy like many seaside sites.
jess
I second the caravan club!!!!! And if you are thinking of going abroad, look at getting some camping cheques!
