Severe weather warning for tommorrow

Recommended Posts

I've only just found out that 4 inches of rain has been forecast for tommorrow in the Midlands area. That is a months worth in a day  After my poor chickens got flooded out a month ago, I'm now digging a mega irregation system around the eglu! Putting a new cover on their run also.

Just thought I would make sure everyone knows about the weather tomorrow in time for any modifications! If I hadn't found out in time, they would be swimming tommorrow.

We've unfortunately had the bad weather for two days now. :(

I went down earlier to check the chooks and all the big girls were in the new girls eglu run and the two new girls were stuck out in the pouring rain as they wouldn't let them in.

I've now locked my big chooks in their walk in run and just left the two new girls out.

I posted a picture of my lawn.......sorry swamp yesterday and today it is twice as bad with about 2" of water on top of the mud. I'm a bit worried about trees/branches coming down now. I've already got one tree down at the top of the garden but I have 3 where my runs are.

Tell me!!!!

Torrential rain here all day. Lanes are awash with debris and branches are coming down all over the place.

Chooks have been out but are now drenched!!

I've sweetcorn-charmed them back into the run and that's it for the day. They have complained but if they have any sense they'll settle into the nest boxes and sleep.

Heating's on, will light the woodburner later and settle down with a glass and a good movie.

it seems to be on its way here to Kent - beautiful morning, tho cold; then ever since mid-day we have had raging winds with on and off rain... oh well, at least I got the dog out this morning! chooks dont seem bothered by the weather, and they are all tucked up safe and sound now anyway. we lost one omlet sunshade off the run this afternoon tho.

We've had rain here all day but it got worse and worse as the day went on. I went out to the girls around 6pm and had to change trousers when I got back inside as they were drenched. At lockup I had to go out in waterproofs. It only takes me a couple of minutes to get to the bottom of the garden

Hope it's dry tomorrow as we've to put netting on top of the fencing.

Hmm. It may be time to upgrade the girls' shower curtain (a green that matches the cube, great find in BnQ by hubby) for some corrugated plastic. Though - for the first day this week - I don't think we're getting any work done in the garden today....

My girls are safe inside the purpose built run at the moment and since yesterday evening the water butt which collects water from the roof of their run has already filled up. That is 210 litres, and its not that torrential here (East Anglia)! Just goes to show how much rain falls on a 3m x 3m area

During the night it was a different story. It was horrendous and my pink Eglu had blown over. Unoccupied, thank goodness.

Blimey, I hadn't considered that was possible - lucky there wern't any residents.

I don't think the rain here has been as bad as forecast. I mean, it's been awful and the chickens are paddling again but I wouldn't say we had the 4 inches that was forecast and....... it's just stopped raining :D .

The drainage ditches seemed to work this time. They still have puddles in one side of the run, but nothing like as bad as last time. The Auboise isn't looking or smelling very pretty though :?

Helga, as official spokeschicken, for the Omletina Household says she's had enough of this weather and it does nothing for her featherstyle.....she says we've had an inch of rain in about 5 hours here and that is more than enough....she would also like to point out that she, along with her sisters, is stuck out in it whilst her owner is inside, taking photographs through the window (hence the rainspots on the photograph)

Brilliant photo - she really does look disgruntled  .

We had a foul day yesterday, very cold, a bit wet and very windy. Today has been gorgeous :? . Bright sunshine and not a breath of wind.

our garden today, poor Bea couldn't come out as there was nowhere dry for her to sit. I just hope this isn't the start of things to come! Thank goodness the cube is high up!
