New Girl
I am hoping Father Christmas is going to bring me some plastic roosting bars and in anticipation I have been thinking of what to do with the old ones (2 sets MKII). Has anyone done anything ingenious with them?!
Tweety
I have made a perch for the eglu run with mine, and my bantams love it. I just fixed 2 parallel garden canes through the run wire and slotted the roosting bars, upside down, onto the canes. Hope Santa brings you some plastic roosting bars! JM
I've cut one up to give 2 perches in the cube run at different heights using bricks underneath with a couple more on top to keep it in place. I've put one between the wheels - which they use to look out on the wet rain, and the other is more or less alongside the ladder. I bet they curse me for making their run an obstacle course!! I use the other as an outside perch! (on bricks again!)
New Girl
Thank you both for your replies. I think I will use both (EXCELLENT) ideas as I have about 6 spare bricks and some garden canes. I've just bid on some roosting bars on eBay, I'm too impatient to wait until Christmas!!! Just need to get Hubby to make me the walk in run next LOL! New Girl
Clare, I can't imagine anyone wanting mine, they are rather poo stained!! Did you put them on the for sale forum? No, I think I'll keep them and keep my chooks happy using them as perches.
The Dogmother
I jetwashed mine so that they were as clean as possible bar the odd stain (which I was up front about) then I sold them in the forum marketplace.
dancing cloud
My old wooden bars are stood on two shoe racks in the yard and are used as a perch, launching pad, adventure playground and cuddling area . There's a gap between the racks that they use as a tunnel and the racks are basically two slatted shelves, so they hop in and out. From the amount of poo all over them, they still get a lot of use
