Berkochicks
Don't say "get very drunk". For the last 3 Christmases my brother in law has bought my husband Whisky. They are twins, I don't go along with any theory that twins are really "connected", my husband hates Whisky. Anyone got any ideas what I could use it for. I thought about adding some fruit and sugar but I've never heard of Sloe Whisky. Donna
Mrs Frugal
We have the same problem. LSH gets a bottle or two at work every Christmas and we hate the stuff. I've not found any culinary uses for it other than feeding Christmas cakes so we give our bottles away to the Golf Club for charity raffles instead. I'd be interested to hear if there's anything they can be used for at home though. There is a Scottish recipe called Cranachan which uses Whisky but it has raspberries in and LSH doesn't like them . Guest
give them back to him on his birthday I can't believe one brother wouldn't know his other brother hates whisky Why doesn't he just tell him he hates the stuff? I love whisky and coke so I'd drink them but don't know what to suggest you use them for. Maybe make some whisky marmalade?
Snowy
Mmmmm, a glass of whisky, either neat or with a shot of green ginger to make it a whisky mac. Bliss! Sorry, no practical suggestions either

Clur
I've solved all your problems with unwanted bottles of whisky....give them to meeeee! (granted, it's taken me two years to get half-way through a bottle I was given one Christmas, but I love the stuff!)

Egluntyne
Him Indoors is often given bottles of whisky. Neither of us touch it, so apart from saving one for doctoring Christmas cakes, we usually give them as raffle prizes here and there. Might add a dollop next time I make marmalade though. Berkochicks
I think I might give the Blackberry Whiskey a try, we have lots in the freezer. I will put it in to smaller bottles and give it to people for xmas (including the brother in law). Donna

Mutrix Farmers
I have a recipe to make "Baileys" that uses whiskey but doesn't taste overwhelmingly of it (my Mum hates whiskey but loves home made Baileys) Anyone interested please pm me (I'm at work and can't remember it all)

Berkochicks
Thanks Cathy, I am meeting with a group of girlfriends on Saturday. I am going to make this recipe and the Baileys one and get them to test both. Will let you know which tastes best. Donna
redhotchick
Fantastic! Will you let us know the tasting result please! Does the "Baileys" one have eggs in? If it comes out top will you post the recipe, thanks.
Berkochicks
We tasted the 2 recipes and Redhotchicks Baileys won. I think both are lovely but the Baileys is much creamier. I have used up the "Bells" so the Baileys will be made with single malt! I made Blackberry Whiskey with most of the "Bells". It is smelling divine. When I strain it next month I will use the fruit for a boozy trifle. Its giving me a hangover just thinking about it. Donna
redhotchick
That trifle should probably carry a don't drink and drive warning!!! I don't even like whisky but using single malt to make "Baileys" does seem a bit of a shame!
Abbey Road Girl
I really believe (from personal experience) that a hot toddy can nip a cold in the bud. If you feel sniffles coming on, take yourself to bed with a mug of whisky and hot water (whatever amount of booze you think will really knock you back) and get a good night's sleep. In my experience, you will really sweat during the night and wake up with the cold symptoms gone. That said, you will probably still have a lot of leftover whisky. frenchtoast
Hiya, Here's a recipe for the dessert "Scotch Mist" It won't make a huge dent in your bottles but it might help Serves six Ingredients: 15 fl ozs double cream 3 tablespoons whisky 3 ozs meringues, co"Ooops, word censored!"ly crushed 1lb fresh strawberries, chopped. Keep some strawberry halves back for decoration. 6 leaves of mint Method: Mix the whisky into the cream and whip until it just holds its shape. Fold in the crushed pieces of meringue and chopped strawberries. Spoon the mixture into six glasses, cover and chill for about 15/20 minutes. Decorate each glass with strawberry halves and the mint leaves before serving. I think any soft fruit could be substituted. Enjoy!
