Cinnamon
I was flicking through the Sky channels the other day & came across a show called 'Miami Ink' about a team of very cool, very funny tattoo artists in Miami. If you like that sort of thing, its a bit like American Chopper, but with needles Anyhow,I have been blown away by the skill these artists have.It is amazing what they can do & how they recreate portraits into a tottoo in particular is incredible. I have a way to go before I would want any work done myself, but I just love seeing what other people choose, hearing their reasons for it & watching it grow from an idea into something quite beautiful

Cinnamon
It really is incredible, isn't it? Like you, there haven't been many I don't like, & so many have a sad story to tell too........... If someone had told me that I would enjoy a show about tattoo artists I would never have believed them
chelsea
I've been a fan for quite a while now. I dont know whether you've been watching the new or old series Sarah but the tattoist Kat Von D does some amazing portraits....they look exactly like the photos the customers bring in. Ami James is hot!! Like Jon Bon Jovi without hair....
Cinnamon
Yes, its the series with Kat I have been watching - is that the new one? I love the star tattoos around her eyes - what a striking woman she is! I agree about Ami too - he is just the sort of baldy our Claret would go for * scuttles off to find a picture *

No thats the old series then as for some reason they got rid of her and replaced her with a chap (forget his name).
Cinnamon
This is the lovely Ami - now, where is Claret?
chelsea
cor! I like the fact he's a bit rough around the edges. He boxes for fitness and he served in the Israeli army/marines (cant remember which)..... I've googled him before you see!
Valkyrie
DD is really into that - she watched the London one but wasn't impressed. I gather she intends to go to Miami to become Sadie the Painted Lady one day. But I have to say they are absolutely amazing artists. I would like a clipper ship - but maybe in another life! Paola
Ooooo I am getting sky next month, so a program to add to my list to watch I am currently looking at having a tattoo to cover one that I had in my youth Its really hard to know where to start in finding a great artist Miami is pushing it a bit
Valkyrie
Just watching the ordinary channels via satellite is amazing - otherwise the pictures are so grainy. Then you'll watch all the channels going, get square-eyes and then start to pick and choose the programmes with more care. It's like being a child in a toyshop at first! Cooks
I've been watching now for a while also, they are amazing artists and I agree some of Kat Von D's portraits ar breathtaking. I wish she hadn't left. The London Ink just didn't match up IMO I wish Louis would stop butting in to show 'how it's done' in front of customers, so patronising to his staff and very bad manners in front of customers. Back to Miami me thinks..... now Ami James... it's worth watching just for him!
Valkyrie
Kat has her own programme now. She also has a range of makeup - which DD says is expensive but very good (DD completely hooked).

Really? When & where is it on - she is brilliant,I think I am watching both series 1 & 2 ,as they are both on at the moment - its a bit confusing, but still good! Valkyrie
Kat's version is LA Ink. But DD says it isn't on very much but thinks it used to be on Thursdays. It would be on Discovery Real Time, but isn't on at the moment. It is such an addictive programme - so many nice stories of why people have the tatoos. I think one of the nice ones was 3 brothers, one of which had an illness that required lots of operations. The other two brothers wanted scars to show their support, so the final artwork looked like a long gash that had been stapled! Kat's portraits were fantastic, but I do like the Japanese style - so colourful.
GreenGirl
I love that show, Ami is gorgeous, and when he works out on the beach in the sun Kat VD left Miami Ink as there just wasnt enough room in the show for her and Ami to lead, she is from LA so went back there to open up her own salon - and Miami Ink have never mentioned her since - bit of rivalry there I think! I would never be brave enough to commit to having one done, my friend just had a beautiful Koi done on her hip, but she also has a not very good lizard on her back, I would be worried I had something that turned out rubbish
theherd123
I have watched quite a bit of the 'Ink' programmes but cant abide the London one - its terrible! I adore the work Kat does. I wouldnt say she was a tattoo artist but an artist that tattoos
Cinnamon
If I were ever to get a tattoo, I would want 2 of those Japanese peoneys, one in bright blue for Devon & one bright pink for Cleo, sort of next to each other. Oh, & I would want Ami James to do it , which sort of gets me off the hook a bit

KimmyCustard
OH lurrrrves tattoos (luckily he only has 5) and one of our 'things to do before we die' is to get to Miami and have a tattoo done at the Miami Ink parlour! I already have one but want another (only small, our initials entwined with a small red heart) and would love Chris Garver to do it. His artistry is just beautiful, but I'm not sure if he's still working there, he had a wrist injury from too much tattooing and there was talk of him giving it up! Ami is OK but Chris Nunez is a whole lump of delicious creature, those eyes, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (don't tell OH). Kimmy x
Cooks
I'm going to need to mop the floor soon with all this drooling... I wonder if Ami googles himself, he might come across this.. Helllloooooo Ami! *waves*
chelsea
perhaps we should arrange an omlet meet in Miami!
