Valkyrie
This is the second one since we moved here (third if you count the village estate agent shooting his wife in the next village). Now we have had a stabbing in the early hours of the morning - newspapers say it is aggravated burglary. My source (DD) tells me it is a revenge killing of a revenge killing of a hit and run driver. Well, it is in the area where you wouldn't want to leave your car at any time. This time 8/9 people arrested. I think that would be the lot then! Gosh, it so lowers the tone of the area (what a s"Ooops, word censored!")! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/7704987.stm
Ain't Nobody Here
How horrible . It's particularly nasty if it's close to home, easier to forget about if it's just "in the news".
Valkyrie
The other one was a shooting - around the same area. It was thought that the deed was done by a professional hit man because the victim was on one of those witness protection things. He supposedly spilt the beans on an IRA incident - except he kept bragging about it - little wonder that they caught up with him. Except it eventually turned out to be his girlfriends jealous ex! He was too much of a minion for the IRA to bother about - that and perhaps he was rather delusional. The plain clothes policemen were here for weeks. It certainly brought the village (I say village - it is very big now) together for gossiping! Ooh and now I'm doing it too.

keyhole kate
Blimey My DS was based (RAF) very close tp Hook It seemed such a lovely quiet, quaint little village, how awful for you
Egluntyne
Goodness. What a word we live in.
Valkyrie
It seems my source was slightly wrong (there you go - gossiping again) - this guy was the driver, speeding in Fleet, crashed while high on cocaine and we aren't sure if the two killed were passengers or padestrians - but revenge certainly. He got over 2 years prison sentence and got out in a matter of months! No wonder they wanted revenge! KK - Ahhh Odiham, so pretty, so windy! Much nicer. Nothing much happens here as a rule, but when it does, well . . . I wonder if Jlo has seen the news? Luckily she is further away.
Paola
Blimey My DS was based (RAF) very close tp Hook It seemed such a lovely quiet, quaint little village, how awful for you Odiham (sp?) is very different to Hook from what I have seen. Hook is lovely, not the sort of place you would expect murders to go on. It is esp awful when it is practically on your door step
missuscluck
Oh my ,good grief Koojie. Thats frightening.
Valkyrie
It's quite a long way from us - over a mile if I walked it - things always happen over that side. But a little while ago they built reeeeeaaallly expensive houses there. That would be the south side of Hook - we are on the north side with the A30 in between. It's not too bad really. We have a Tesco's here though - never has what I need! But I want to go West ooh arrr. Lil bro lives in Warminster (he has to go to RAF Odiham too occasionally - all over the place) so would like to be closer to them so I can see my niece growing up more often - er, she's due in January. Also want room for my mum and big garden/land to do the self sufficiency bit. I did have it all planned for my dad to wear a smock and have some hay in his mouth, but can't do that now, but he decided otherwise - or his age did, poor thing. keyhole kate
Hook, Odiham were very expensive If I remember correctly as far as property prices go I remember comparing them to here in Herts when visiting DS at Odiham Lovely part of the country though Koojie "Ahhh Odiham, so pretty, so windy! " You got that right

I think I have a fair idea of at least one person who may be involved. Can't say too much but I will be at work tomorrow and may find out if I am right (BTW I work at the local court!) It is a bit scary when it is so close to home. I know a few people who live in the area - mainly my kids' friends!
Tiggy
it is scary so close to home, I don't work in the same town now, but 2 years ago there was a fight outside my window between 2 drug gangs one pulled oput a gun & shot the other, I was relieved he didn't miss would have come through the window & shot me, thankfully I don't have to worry about such things now
