Guest
Playing locally too - Cliffs Pavillion in Southend so I only need to leave 1/2 hour before I want to be there and can drive! I bought 2 tickets the day they came out, very reasonable at £30 each. Then I never found anyone to come along with me so I popped the second one on Ebay a week ago and it sold for £66 - so basically I'm going for FREE Well of course there is bound to be merchandise....... Clash City Rocker
I'm going to the "cheapo version" tonight, Russell Hastings (frontman in "from the Jam") @ Marrs Bar, Worcester doing The Jam greatest hits Acoustic versions. Also got tickets for the full "from The Jam" on 20th December @ B'ham academy with Secret Affair as support.

Guest
He was BRILLIANT - a lot of people had seen bad reviews of this tour - saying he spent most of the time behind the piano but he didn't. His final encore was the one we'd been waiting for, we knew he'd do it as he had a tambourine hanging on his mike stand - he brought Phil Jupitus on stage to join in as well and they were clearly having a lot of fun - Town Called Malice. One of my all time faves - they also played Butterfly Collector which is another huge fave of mine. About halfway through he started smoking though, even though I was sitting in the balcony you could smell the smoke from just ONE person smoking. Really shows what a difference the smoking ban has made just a shame he couldn't hold off till the end of the set. CCR I saw FTJ on 20th December LAST year - at the New Brighton Centre - the anniversary of the Jam concert there. Their merchandise is LOADS better than Wellers, there was nothing for the ladies there at all last night.

Their merchandise is LOADS better than Wellers, there was nothing for the ladies there at all last night. I hadn't realised that last years FTJ gig was the anniversary gig (25 years). I was at the previous one "Solid Bond" tour 11th Dec 1982 (still got the ticket, Brighton Conference Centre, £5). A really awful gig. The Jam had finished a farewell UK tour, but the 2 extra Brighton dates got added at the end. Weller wasn't speaking to Buckler & Foxton, there was a huge ruck between Mods & Skins, Foxton got hit with a bottle and the Jam all walked off. Security let loads of people in without tickets which made the situation worse. The Jam opened with "Start" and encored with a real cr*p version of "The Gift", had seen them a few weeks earlier at Wembley arena when they were much better. To add "insult to injury" 4 of us were sleeping in a Mini-Clubman on an NCP on Brighton seafront on one of the coldest, wettest nights of the year. Happy Days !!!!! Guest
Yeah I read all about the problems at the end of that tour. The anniversary was interesting but Foxton kept threatening to walk ecause people threw bottles......
AnnieP
Glad he was good Pengy. I saw him about 10 years ago in Reading. The audience were pretty dead and he got the sulks and went off after just half an hour! I was really disappointed.

Guest
Thanks - I'd not seen that but I was surprised it didn't make news as someone else got into trouble for it. He was still smoking inside after he came off stage - everyone else was coming out for a smoke but there was no sign of Weller - his old mucker Buckler was the first one out at the Brighton gig last year as he was gagging for a fag!
