wombatally
Warning - picture overload! We've had them 3 weeks now but my camera was broken, anyway, here they are all living in the new house and run I built for them (don't worry, the run is longer than it seems in the pics and they will all be free rangeing with the others soon. They're all about 20 weeks apart from the Pekins who are about 3 yr old. This is Daisy the Araucana… Belinda the Black Orpington and Maisie the Marans… And with Dolly the Cream Legbar… Millie the Welsummer… And finally Nettle and his Pekin Girls…
craftyhunnypie
Absolutely beautiful. You must be so proud of your lovely flock. I have an Araucana exactly the same & it has now proved to me that she is more than likely a girl. She is 15 weeks & I hatched her myself. I was worried about the tail feathers, but your Daisies are the same. I love how you've got big Orpington & little pekins together. I have a leghorn, black rock & Magpie that mix with my lavender pekins in the garden, but I have Spongebob the Drizzle cockerel to sort out any disagreements! Your Welsummer has gorgeous markings! helenmb
They are gorgeous, I love your Welsummer's markings and Dolly is a lot more 'creamy' than my Cream Legbar. They also look very happy together don't they - well done and congratulations on an amazing flock of lovelies.

Emma.x Eek - Do you think that Daisy might be a [deep breath] boy?! I just assumed that she'd be female when I got her - maybe there was a mistake! How are the tail feathers supposed to look? Panic over! I laughed so much at the Orpington this morning, she is huge already and the one of the little pekins wouldn't let her get a drink, it was so funny! wombatally
Thanks everyone, and Egluntine for the (deep breath!) boy pic! I've loved keeping my hybrids and when I started I wanted nothing else. I was especially adamant that I would not have pekins as I thought they were just decorative. Then I was given the pekin trio and yep, they are totally decorative and serve little other purpose that chicken eye candy, but they are so cute and funny that I now want to hatch more in the spring!! As for pure breeds, I thought they would be high maintenence divas - and to be honest they may be yet (Dolly the Cream Legbar is particularly reluctant to my cuddles and Daisy Araucana does have a tendancy to look put out) but the colours are amazing - and of course I want to hatch more in the spring. Honestly, in this game you set out with such prejudices and then bam - you want it all We live in the country and my parents have the farm next to our cottage and today my Dad said 'well just keep them in the field so they can wander all over'... does he not realise that I will go mad and have one of everything?!
