AMO
Help - one of my new ex-bats, Bo, has been with me nearly two months now, is quite happy eating, drinking getting on with the others, but, I noticed on Sunday that her face is turning bright yellow. It is much more yellow today so I am worried that she may have jaundice. Does anyone have any experience of this before I call the vet? She does eat a small amount of corn but prefers pellets so I know she isn't over doing it on corn. Any ideas please? Thanks.
Alfred
Getting more yellow does sound like jaundice...this can often be caused by a liver problem...but I would expect the chicken to be off its food and feeling sad, and also have yellow poos. Sorry can't be more useful - hopefully someone else can give better advice!
AMO
I took Bo to the vet this morning. He thinks she may have a bile duct infection or is going into liver failure. While she is still lively we are treating her with Baytril in the hope that it is an infection and will clear up. If not, we will leave her (as she seems quite happy) but, if she detoriates I'll have to let her go peacefully.

alih
Annie I'm afraid liver failure was what my vet disgnosed when Iggy turned yellow- she was put to sleep as she had a crop problem adn was very ill. But good luck with the baytril = let us know how she gets on?

likeastar--x
Hiya, I know this was quite a while ago but was wondering what happened to Bo in the end? Willow is showing similar symptoms, yellow but very perky and acting normally. Could just be ODing on corn but maybe liver problems? Did the course of Baytril clear her up? Thanks
