..lay a little egg for me

Survivors -- would you be able to cope?

Recommended Posts

Youre all so useful! I, on the other hand, would be of use to "Ooops, word censored!"ody. Plucking and gutting makes me chunder, riding a horse (as they dont have brakes) fills me with horror, and as for no hairdryer - well I think you would all be grateful that I wasnt taking up houseroom in the chicken commune!

*thinks hard about what she can do*

Good at impressions of anyone

Makes a decent lentil curry that wont send you scurrying to the pan straight after

Not scared of any creatures (apart from riding a horse, not scared of them)

OH taught me to fight, so good at defence of the chook commune

Good cuddle giver, usually due to vast bosom.

Is any of that any use to ANYONE??!!

I don't think I'd be much use, although I can light fires, grow veg and knit things. However I'd be heading straight to the nearest pharmacy to break in and grab myself 20 years-worth of replacement thyroid hormone. Without that, I wouldn't be much use to anyone after a couple of months had passed.

Think water would be the trickiest problem to get round in suburbia....

Especially as it would likely be contaminated. Anyone good at dowsing?

DS came home yesterday and said they had been learning in science how to purify water using a plastic sheet, a marble and a beaker :? I was confused at first but then realized it was the method I've seen used in the desert (where you dig a hole and put a container in the bottom, a plastic sheet or similar over the hole and a rock on the sheet above the container. The water evaporates from the hole and then condenses on the sheet overnight runs down and drips into the container). So at least he will be able to get clean water :D

I can do most small holder'y' stuff. I can ride & use side reigns from a horse but only to pull me around on a sledge in the snow  suppose I could apply the same skill to a plough!

I am a ex vet nurse and can do saddlery. I can play various instruments for entertainment & am really good on a treadle sewing machine!

I've decided I'm with Lesley on the wanting to have caught it people.

Actually its difficult to say I guess its the idea of losing all of my children. But then I wouldnt want to die leaving any of them to fend for themselves so would I have to watch all them die first so I could die in peace. To be honest its all to much to bear thinking about and I think one of the reasons I didnt have particulalry nice dreams last night.

Chickens on Survivors :D:clap::clap: . My family, as usual, went :roll::roll: . I was shouting at the tv "that's not the way to catch them :shameonu: ". Didn't like the bit where one of the poor things died though  .

I wonder whose chickens they were  ? Didn't have an eglu so probably not an Omleteer (that would have been on the forum!!)

Me too!

So sad when it died, I was telling my parents the right way to catch a chicken for the rest of the evening.

Yes, me too. If LSH and the boys didn't make it, I wouldn't want to survive either. Together, we'd be a pretty good team and could probably make something of a life if we found somewhere to live where we could grow food and keep some animals but on my own, no way. I can cook, preserve, grow things, sew but what good is that really?
