Lush Party

Recommended Posts

Well, the Lush party went off without a hitch on Saturday!

DD was so excited about having a party outing which none of the others had had before, and as it's the first party I'd ever "farmed out" I was the least-stressed mummy ever at a birthday party!

The girls were taken over by the lovely manageress & her assistant, who had them all slathering up their arms with yummy concoction, followed by a second layer of a equally delicious scented moisturiser then topped with a sparkly powder - one arm was marshmallow/candy floss and the other was like a bounty bar. They also had a demo of a Magic bath bomb, which changes colour as it fizzes around the bath - ooh and ahhs were deafening :o, and were given a guided tour with product info, aimed at their age and attention span!

At the end, DD was presented with a huge box of goodies (if you are in a Lush shop, look for the gold glittery hexagonal box  !!!), I got a much smaller but totally unexpected gift, as they'd had to change the time of the party and the girls all had a recyclable party bag, which if they reuse it twice more in the shop they get a slice of Christmas cake soap!

Obviously they were having an advertising session on us and the children, but I felt it wasn't over the top & actually, we got a whole load of special offers exclusively for the party, which was wonderful. And some of the stuff is simply scrumptious!!

We had our party at the Chichester shop, and apparently it's not a group-wide offer, but worth asking in other shops as the management may do a similar system. I'm going back for a "lock-in" before Christmas with some friends - a glass of bubbly will be on offer and no charge for the "lock-in"! Bargain!!! (Party cost was £109 for up to 20 children, we had 10 children, 4 adults, so still very reasonable!)

Enough excitable waffling, am off to hoover/tidy before the man arrives to service the house alarm, hohum!!

They provided some nibbles, sweets, cupcakes & drinks. I took some of my own drinks & crispy nibbles which they used (I didn't want the children any higher than they were so didn't let them use the coke they'd bought, I had pink lemonade & cream soda from Tesco plus Appletiser, which are K's favourites).

I also took a homemade fairy cake (I do dislike the term cupcake  !) each individually wrapped in a cellophane bag, for the girls to take home, as birthday cake is obligatory these days in the party bags & I didn't take a cake in case it got forgotten & impregnated with the smell of Lush!

*** BTW in case anyone counts this as advertising, I am nothing to do with Lush, I am just passing on a good deal with my own personal comments, as I had promised (to Paola I think!) in another thread a few weeks ago! ***

What a great idea- Me and BH and bub are complete Lush converts..... We go in weekly and are always made a fuss of! My little boy even has a pic on the wall of the store we visit!

I would love that (for me - not my boys!)

I bought a massive Lush goodie bag in their after Christmas sale earlier this year and my spare room still vaguely smells of it even though I'm down to my last half of a ballistic!

Did you know that Lush are doing free p&p on online orders at the moment? Probably no use to you as you're stocked up and have a local shop but might be useful to other forumites!

DD was 9, but had friends of just 8 up to nearly 12, & they all loved it - and the mummies who stayed were also very impressed!

As the parties are run in the shop after closing time, it makes it too late for anyone younger than mine I'd have thought, but fine for older children, also takes out the need for "feeding time" within the party time, although had I been feeling flush (and brave!) I could have taken the little banshees (sorry, darlings!) into Pizza Express or similar restaurant in town for supper before the party.

Jo, having said that boys may not like it, we brought home all our goodies & the two brothers who we'd left behind (aged nearly 12) were both rummaging & asking questions - I think they'd have enjoyed it as there are some more masculine ranges in the shops, maybe that's just my son & his friend having their feminine side on show - not convinced some of their peer group would be so impressed though! Re the free P&P, I find it easier not to overspend if I'm online, rather than surrounded by lovely handleable goodies in a shop, probably because I'm lazy & get fed up with trying to find stuff on websites

Pam, yes I would imagine it's heavenly for teenage girls. They must come home smelling lovely!!:lol:

Having seen how the girls reacted on Saturday, maybe I'll go in after Christmas & stock up on some bombs etc for their birthdays.

I just had a look on their website and there is no mention of parties on there. I take it this is just a personal thing differing from shop to shop?

I remember when Lush was Cosmetic to go! I loved getting their newsletter and trying to decide what to buy! And they had the most fabulous back mask which was strawberry and ginger. Smelt divine and worked wonders. I don't think they make it any more :( I also had one of their solid hair shampoos. Trying to think what else I used to buy now . . . .

Me too, me too!!!!!

I loved their Champagne bath bomb ,all wrapped up in shimmery pink plastic.

And the blackberry BOMB bath bomb, packaged to look like a littl bomb.

And the honey bath floam in a glass jar with a honey dipper to put it into the bath with :P:P:P

And the gorgeous lemon bath melt that smelt like you were in a lemon grove.

There are more I am sure...............................

And Me!!!!

I remember Cosmetics to Go 'Smaragadine' shower gel - it's the best to use after swimming as it was the only one to get rid of the smell of chlorine. Lush has never had one to match it :(

I have a little bit left in an old bottle...........and have to open it occasionally :lol:

Yes it is, from what I gathered from the manageress each shop can market themselves as they see fit. Obviously this one likes parties  !! They must have taken a pretty packet from the parents who bought during our party, so really quite lucrative from that alone, plus any extra sales the parents who didn't attend got badgered into making over the next week or so! We went in over a week later & the lovely young man (assist manager I think) who had run our party was in there & he was as attentive then as he was at the party & took my son off to choose a solid shampoo etc which he could take to school (rather than a bottle which the other boys put lolly-stick through the hole of  Kids, who'd have 'em? ) DS was most surprised that I called the chap by name "how do you know him so well Mummy?"

Have just looked on their website, I'm surprised there isn't one in Salisbury, not sure where your nearest one would be, but worth a phone call if you are interested.

Lesley, Katie swims up to 4 times a week and has lovely flowing blond locks (nearly to her waist!) She was recommended the Godiva solid shampoo, which we keep in a little tin in her swim bag. It smells divine & seems to work and also doesn't seem to need a conditioner. She uses it as a body wash too, so doesn't need a shower when we get home either, so huge bonuses all round!!

Is Godiva the yellow one with petals in it? - I use that, it goes with the Flying Fox shower gel. I can still smell chlorine though. I haven't needed conditioner for years, since using the solid shampoos.

The Stratford store do parties as well - I noticed something about them last time I was in there.

I thought it was ok with getting rid of the chlorine, maybe my smell sensors are so shot after sitting in the chlorine atmosphere for an hour that I just don't notice! :o Perhaps I should snuggle into my child's hair more often......

Hers look rather dodgy now, rather like squidged saffron rice with bits in  I have the lilac one (can't remember it's name!) Looks like purple dessicated coconut!

I shall have to try that on Rosie then - she swims a lot, what with school swimming and swimming club as well. Remind me about this when we're next in Stratford Lesley.

Perhaps a party there would be a good idea for Rosie's next birthday.

I know! Salisbury is absolutely rubbish for decent shops :x I think our nearest would be Southampton, or Poole.

We do have an abundance of mobile phone shops though, coz you can never have too many of them

I held a 'Bath Bomb Party' for Lauren's 9th birthday - wasn't Rosie here for it? - Lauren wants another one now for her 11th  - apparently, her friends keep asking when there is going to be another one  Perhaps I should go into the business

Sarah - I found an old but unused one that colour the other day and popped it into my swim bag - I wasn't sure what it was but hopefully it will be the anti-chlorine one.
